If you don't want to skip it then that's fine
It seems to pop up when the game registers you actively failing stages (note: not pausing mid-level or hitting the Retry hotkey). I've only naturally had this happen on late game rifts, so I wasn't aware of this being a thing on minigames, but as a test, I went into Show Time! and let it fail a couple of times and it came up with a prompt asking if I wanted "help". Which apparently doesn't skip it, but it gives you visual indicators like in boss fights, if that helps you.
Edit: As a side note, just did another test. That help the game gives isn't just in story mode, as I just did Show Time! again, but this time through the Extras/Minigames menu instead of Story Mode, so there's that too.
Also if you fail it a couple more times after the help it gives, it does, in fact, ask to skip it. Had to go back to test that again now that I had time.
