PSA for anyone struggling with offset in the editor
EDIT: okay very sorry for the wait, the solution is a little annoying but the easiest solution is probably to just go to this website https://muted.io/bpm-to-ms/. Input the bpm your song starts at, double 1 note value to figure out the offset you need and change the sound file to be appropriate for that.

Second you're gonna have to open editor and shift+f8, search on filter for developer mode and turn that on. After doing that just change offset to whatever bar you need (should be 4)

Another option is just to line up the song on bar 3 in a DAW like FL Studio (in the playlist)

the text under here can be ignored, but I'll keep it here:
(You need to specifically adjust the sound files offset beforehand, since currently there's no offset option. Unfortunately it's tricky cause the offset of the sound file depends on the bpm of the song. For example a 190 bpm song would need to ideally start gameplay at 1 second and 26 milliseconds from my understanding, for the offset to line up at bar 9 in-game.

I don't know what the easiest option for adding correct starting position to the sound file would be, but if you have a DAW (I'll use FL studio in this case), place where you want the song to start on 2 in the playlist. You could also make it later if you have to. Hopefully that gets the idea across and it helps you.)

small update: there is an offset option if you dig a little, but it only applies to the editor and not in-game, unfortunately. Figured I'd make that clear in case someone sees it and doesn't waste their time thinking it'll work as of now.

omg that's dumb but I suppose it'll have to get patched soon.

wait, so not only do we have to manually offset a song in order for it to fit, but said offset only applies to the editor and not gameplay? WTF? this editor is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ challenge in-of-itself.
no, the offset sound file should work both in editor and gameplay. What I meant is that there is an offset function somewhere in the editor, but it's useless ignoring the editor.
okay I made a blunder, I'll post on how to solve it properly soon.

Thanks much for this! It looks like the Offset value lets you give a decimal so I was able to throw in 0.2 and it synced to my track fine.

Just make a line of enemies and keep messing with the Offset value until they're on beat.

Edit: Spoke too soon. Got a portion of the track charted and when I went to test, the entire beat chart was shifted much later than what the editor showed. What's the point of the offset if it only applies inside the editor? I'm just gonna wait for a patch I think.

As I'm trying you say, you have to actually change the offset on the sound file. This means changing at what point the song starts in the sound file. It's kinda inconvenient, but that's ultimately what you have to do atm.
