The songs may seem intimidating at first, but if you keep at it you'll become more familiar with them and the game. In no time at all you'll go from struggling to beat B to consistently getting high A ranks, or even S ranks.
Make sure your settings are all good. All of your delays should probably be 0ms unless you're using something wireless or know there to be something else that would add delay. Make sure your inputs are comfortable and easy, I have mine set up on the numpad keys 8*- & 0. Then just practice. Don't start on Ravevenge, that one's a bit tricky. Start on one of the other two songs, and I assume lowering the difficulty might help. But don't lower it too much, if there's no challenge there's little room for improvement.
