Saeko's Drink Link
Hey, I'm in Chapter 12 of the game and I've been avoiding ANYTHING to do with Saeko after the crap she did to Ichiban, but can anyone who has finished the game - or has actually interacted with her - confirm if the Drink Link has anything to do with her feeling actually sorry or regretful over what happened AT ALL? That entire situation ruined her character for me and I'm probably not going to use her ever, but I'd at least like to know. If it does, I can push through the Drink Link at least.

yeah I haven't been able to look at Saeko the same again after what the writers did. she definitely overreacted.

Ichiban's proposal was undeniably too much during their date though, but ghosting him for a literal year or more while telling him they're all good was so damn petty. he meant well, he was just a massive idiot and expressed himself terribly wrong.

Saeko's drink link touches up on her feelings with Ichiban, where she comes clean that what Ichiban said truly pissed her off. Kiryu can be prompted to ask her more about how she feels about Ichiban, but I didn't bother with those since I was kind of expecting some half-assed responses out of her. plus it wouldn't change how things would go in the main story, either.

That whole thing is poorly written and hamfisted, but I still think Saeko's reaction is strangely realistic for a Yakuza game.

It is established that Adachi and Nanba are in more of a closer best friend kind of relationship with Ichiban, so it makes sense Ichiban would contact them first, regardless of Saeko's wanting to not talk to Ichiban.

Ichiban did NOT contact them first. THEY CAME TO HIM.

And again if she didn't want to talk to Ichiban directly SHE COULD HAVE STILL ASKED ABOUT HIM AS A FRIEND VIA NANBA AND ADACHI. Since a real friend would also worry about how the other person who is so foolishly earnest to wear their feelings on their sleeves would deal with the aftermath of that botched confession.

Er - They were the ones to check on him first actually. I will agree that the whole thing is poorly written and hamfisted because Saeko SHOULD have checked on Ichiban, based on her friendship with him. Doesn't matter if they were besties or casual acquaintances, they went through hell in the previous game, that would form SOME kind of bond and she didn't even ask Adachi or Nanba about him. That's what's the LEAST 'realistic' because it doesn't match.
well op if you are still in progress of the drink link, saeko in fact did not feel sorry about what she did. But do it for the achievement anyways :steamhappy:

XD I have drink links with pretty much everyone else, but W O W, thank you for the confirmation that Saeko is a horrible human being. I don't think she's worth it for the achievement though - I'm totally fine with not 100%ing the game. :D

That was the first date, and everything about Saeko's personality and general manner suggests she not only had no interest in marriage, but is actively against it. What Ichiban did was as insulting to who Saeko is as it could get.

So again, yeah, Saeko's reaction, while not good, was a very human reaction.

So by your logic it's human to treat your close friends who have put their life on the line for you multiple times, like garbage just because the person, who is known to be socially awkward and talks too much and is too honest with their feelings - says something that isn't really that insulting in the end. Oh No, how horrible to be loved and protected and looked after. Yes, makes much more sense to lie to their face and ghost them and their associated friends for well over a year. She COULD have been up front with him and pointed out what he said was "wrong" but she instead chose to cut him and the others off completely. She remains a piece of garbage.

Saeko was never a good person to begin with. With current social trends the writers tried to make her into a sort of strong independent woman character but it doesnt work with her employment in a hostess bar, making her look more of a BcH , her drink links are with Kiriu and she explains a bit why she did what she did and her current love interest, its worth doing just to see that part. Ichiban could do so much better but he is obsessed,

I think as some one else in post mentioned, there is a bit of cultural differences involved, Japan has very faked up work ethic (you get glimpses of it when Ichiban gets fired) and their dating life is similarly faked up (which somewhat showcased in the minigame and various other interactions). As westerners we cant really excuse it. The idea of these hostess bars is especially foreign, and they are everywhere in Japan. Japenese men are very tired from overbearing work ethic, very starved for attention that these hostess people take advantage of.

The social norms are all messed up as well, fetishism and cheating is more than common, I suggest googling it a bit for full picture, but love marriages in Japan are uncommon. and Ichiban is very much in love. Raising children in Japan is also very expensive and difficult. This and the work ethic results in Japanese men to be quiet depressed and very likely to commit suicide, which is much more common in Japan than anywhere else in West.

Ichiban should just leave Japan forget about Saeko and embrace his Hawaiian side, a culture in many ways very opposite of Japans. But writers have other things in mind.

I know you understand what I mean. Stop pretending. Or are you THAT lacking in self awareness... you know I am leaning towards the latter now.

Her employment at the hostess club doesn't have anything to do with it, there are other independent, capable female hostesses that are written NOT to be b-tches. That's all her personality. Most of what you add in there is interesting, but kind of irrelevant to the point. Fetishism, cheating, has nothing to do with what I was saying. Raising children and work ethic and the suicide, has nothing to do with the game which is not real life. As westerners we don't have any right to push our opinions on another culture, so I disagree with you there.

You are 100% correct though, he should forget about Saeko given the way she treated him, and focus on a new life in Hawaii (since he will have to get a new passport anyway, he probably won't be going back to Japan anytime soon), and he deserves better. I'm hoping in the next game, they either fix her behavior, have her acknowledge her flaws or don't use her at all.

Your only contribution to a post was a casual insult to everyone who engaged in conversation. I doubt you do any of the things you mentioned, as you come off as an insecure attention seeking "Saeko" and now you are spaming this post with more of your self absorbed nonsense, pathetic.
none of that is correct epic fail :SF6_Delta_Cat: stop picking fights with people and play the game or talk about something more positive

You must have the memory of a goldfish. Don't worry though, I've already reported you for sexism and starting fights.
Lets just hope the writing in the next game will be better. Because this whole part of the story (and others) was complete garbage and forced af. Ichiban behaves like a 16 year old (but somewhat understanable even if a bit over the top) and Saeko is just a complete ass. I dont really understand why it again had to be one of these "I'll always love her no matter what" storys... Seriously, it'd fine if they were 15 or so but not if the whole cast is well over 40. Maybe one day japanese writers will create charakters, at least in the main story, that act according to their age.

Saeko talks about her side of the whole proposal situation from her perspective, and it is very human. She admits she didnt handle it well, but what Ichiban did was the perfect wrong thing for what Saeko wants out of life.

Made me like her a bit more. Seonhee is best girl though.
Human my ass. You don't say we can still be friends and then ghost someone for over a year especially when the bloody internet turns you into a pariah
Actually that is very realistic.

It's not unless you are a complete liar and an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. If that's realistic to you, I feel bad for your relationships.

Ichiban was there for her at her lowest point in life. He saved her from the wrecking ball that could have ended her, he helped patch things up with her sister and helped rescue her dad. If that doesn't warrant at least a "Hope you're doing alright" or "how are you" even once over a year since a mistake HE VIGOROUSLY apologized for and she supposedly accepted, then there's something seriously wrong with her and Ichiban deserves so much better.

Women....
Saeko is the most boring Yakuza character ever. There's tonnes of women in the Yakuza/Judgement series which are far more interesting and have had way less screen time.
You all need to get some ♥♥♥♥♥
