Not at all. This game is very generous with recaps and stuff.

Ive played half of like a dragon and none of the kiryu games and its not hard to to follow at all

You can play this without playing any other but there's stuff that wont make a lot of sense. You can play the previous Like a Dragon game to get some context for the main character but there'll be a point it'll heavily reference the rest of the franchise and it'll be meaningless to you unless you've played all the previous Yakuza games.

Basically while the first Like a Dragon game is a 'jump in point' for some people. It loses a lot of weight without the greater context.

You can play this without the others, it's just you'll be missing a lot of the ongoing story, they do recap and at some point there's a lot of memory viewing on the older games without spoiling, it's just playing them in order is such a unique experience I would rec that over just starting with this. However, if you purely want a gameplay/party jrpg type experience it's quite good and keeps you busy.

Yakuza like a dragon, and like a dragon gaiden at least, infinite wealth is direct sequel to these two, you'll have 10x better exprience
