Why does RGG not separate from SEGA?
They could find a publisher that is not anti-consumer or finally publish it as an independent study.

Sega own RGG, they’re a studio Sega literally created.

It literally started as "Sega AM11"

Because even if RGG was an independent studio (which it isn't), in order to break away from a publisher like that they'd have so many disadvantages. With SEGA, they have access to all of SEGA's past IPs and licenses that SEGA is involved with, meaning if they left, we'd probably lose every licensed minigame such as the arcade cabinets, we'd lose most shop brands like gyukaku, and so on. With SEGA, they've got access to far more global stuff and so without SEGA there's every chance the series may have never fully come to PC, there would be no dubs opening the game up to a new audience, etc.

If RGG split from Sega it would be like when the DMC team left Capcom. They didn't just take Clover Studios which was owned fully by Capcom and had to make their own IP and Studio which turned into PlatinumGames

Pretty sure the DMC team didn't leave capcom though. Clover studio was shut down after the games underperformed, and then Kamiya, Inaba and Mikami all left to found platinum. They then went on to hire many prior capcom employees. Many other people who had worked on DMC remained at the company, if not the majority of them. Most people who work on these games aren't in a position where they can just throw away their job and chase a passion project that may or may not work out. This is more comparable to Nagoshi leaving RGG to found Nagoshi studio, and not for RGG itself to break away into their own thing.

Because they're a studio Sega created and Sega owns the Yakuza/Like A Dragon IP? What benefit were you expecting exactly? A Yakuza game with less DLC? That's not happening. All that would happen if RGG became independent is that these games would be made by a different Sega owned studio.

Also don't forget that the initiative to start porting games to PC was Sega's. Without them, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion on Steam at all.

We'd still have some on steam, aswell as likely new games being on steam too. 0 and Kiwami and Kiwami 2 all came to steam long before SEGA's big PC push started. If anything, SEGA's big PC push mostly only started after the snowballing success of Y7, and due to Y7 being on PC it'd be safe to assume all games from 7 onwards that had no issues preventing it, would come to PC. It is moreso whether we'd have gotten 3-5R and 6, and then the Judgment games, on PC than anything.
