Weapon brands question
Which weapon brand should i use if I want to increase the ailment success rate?

For example: Ichibans ultima egestra bat, may inflict poison and blind. Should I use the specific poison/blind success rate brand or the seal of suffering/binding to increase general ailment success rate?

I tried the latter on Ichiban and Seonhees Weapons but the success rate of inflicting ailment seems still pretty low.
And what about the paralize chance on Seonhees whip skills? Does the gneral ailment success rate brand (seal of binding) increase the chance to paralize from her Skill, too?

I did wonder if the specific and the general ailment brands stack because you can apply them both. Anyway I ignored ailments altogether by late game so I didn't test.

i suggest to not restrict your weapon brand to specific ailments only and rather use general ailments ( damaging / restrictive ) seal. Theyre usually more expensive $5000 or so per seal. For job skill ailments i think it all depends on the boss/ enemy weakness and resistance but also your job/ level in general, the stronger the boss the more likely they resist ailments, the stronger you are the more likely you apply ailments

Honestly, the fights where it actually matters, you cant depend on status ailments. Bosses are either greatly resistant to, or outright immune. It wasnt so much of a problem though, the lvl 20 or 22 Samurai skill that does more damage to opponents that are bleeding still does almost all the damage even without the opponent bleeding, the difference is small. The Chef skills that cause bleeding are still extremely strong without the bleeding aspect.

You are better off with other brands though, that much is for sure.

for me i like seeing the enemies reaction to ailments, its not about the damage but more of experimentation

I've found that the "Heavy" damage Chef skill Cutlery Toss does way more damage than that "Extreme" damage Samurai skill "Shadow Dance" (I think) in question even if the target is bleeding...which supposedly raises the damage "greatly".

There are certain skills that I think just do more or less damage than what is listed in the description.

I use both Cutlery Toss and Shadow Dance on my male physical damage dealers. Cutlery Toss is priority until the bleed lands, then it is Shadow Dance. If no Bleed, then Cutlery Toss does a lot of blade damage anyways.

With the basic attack boosting brand, if I can get a close proximity back attack, I will choose that over anything else, it will do damage on par with extreme damage skills + there is almost always a follow up from a party member.
