As for me, I would just say
5 > JE > LJ > Y7 > Y8 > gaiden > Y0 > Y4 > Y3 > Kishin > K1 > Y6 > K2
haven't played the rest but Kenzan would probably make its way easily to top 3
also wtf is your ranking op I'm sorry but how are you putting 2 and 5 up there, usually people love one and hate the other, not both
Why not both?
Ryuji is my favorite antagonist, Kaoru is my favorite female character, Sotenbori is my favorite map and I love the ending of the second game.
5 has probably my favorite intro, also great characters and maps. Akiyama, Saejima, Shinada. I love them all. I also really like Kiryu as taxi driver
I hate the school drama bullying topic in Lost Judgement. J/LJ also don't have interesting characters. I really like Kaito (and Higashi) but that's it I think. The antagonists are my least favorite ones
7/8: I hate turnbased combat. I hate the palekana story, Hawaii is boring compared to Japan. Characters are mediocre imo. I just miss the "lone wolf trope" from older games
LAD Ishin>OG Ishin>Y4>DS>K2>LJ>Y6>IW>FOTNS:LP>Y3>Y7>K1>Kh1>Y0>Kh2>Y5>Kenzan>JE>Y1>Gaiden>Y2
Heh, I agree but some of my choices were due to the combat mechanics. I thought the ragdolling in Kiwami 2 was funny so I played 6 before 3-5 to see what the first Dragon engine game was like. Unfortunately it wasn't as fun to play, but since it was short it was easy to finish. I only played the first chapter of 5 to sample the combat since I had heard a lot of good things about it. I want to finish 3 and then play 4 before I return to 5 however. Kiwami 1 was my first game because my friend recommended it as a start, and since it does a good job of establishing the main characters it made 0 more enjoyable.
Y8 > Y6 > Y5 > Gaiden > Y7 > Y0 > K2 > Y4 > Y3 > K1
(Judgement definitely getting placed near the top so far)
I think you are the first who likes Y8 the most. Good for you I guess
6-10: Kuro 1 > Kenzan > OG2 > Y8 > Y7
11-15: Y5 > Gaiden > K2 > Y6 > Y4
Worst ones: K1 > Ishin Kiwami
Top 5, really like these games, and yeah the dub of Y1 made it so much better to me.
6-10, good but didn't enjoy them as much. I'd probably rank Kenzan higher if I understood a damn thing without a guide. IW would be a lot lower for that story alone if the gameplay wasn't fun.
11-15, mixed bags, I only enjoyed half of Y5, Gaiden was severely underwhelming, K2 and Y6 felt like testing grounds mostly, and Y4 is on a fence of being among my least favorite ones.
K1 and Ishin, bottom of the barrel. I hate Majima Everywhere with every fiber of my being, and Ishin was just plain unfun. So unfun that its the only game I dropped because I refuse to keep playing. If I wanted to grind I'd just go overtime on my real job.
I didn't have to grind in Ishin. Y7 and Y8 are the most grindy games just for the story imo.
Y8 has these stupid randomized dungeons. It feels like grinding to me and without these dungeons I don't think I could get to the recommended level of some story missions

(It looks like this)
And the map itself is a big reason why I would be scared of a possible Kenzan Kiwami. Most of these locations are either there just for a one off setpiece, or just for the atmosphere. Kiwami 2 removed, similiar to those locations, Shinseicho (the third city next to Sotenbori and Kamurocho) and the docks from the original game, because RGG thought they were "too insignificant". Makes me wonder how much of Kenzan's map would be left out ://
Also yeah, Kenzan and Ishin take place in the same general area, but about 200 years apart. Seeing these locations side by side in both games is really cool :))
