I think it would be easier like this
I understand why 3 is ranked so low but I really liked Mine as antagonist.
Oh why is Kiwami 2 and Ishin at the bottom?
I think Ishin Kiwami is most messy and low-effort remake/remaster they made so far, which I would say is comparable to somethig like GTA Definitive Edition trilogy. The lighting is kinda bad outside of cutscenes, the bathhouse scene has no lighting and effects whatsoever, new actors dont really fit their roles, the game is more buggy than the original.
Mechanically also most attacks have broken properties (like stagger) and to circumvent that, RGG has sped up most of player attacks. It works fine on normal enemies, but bosses now wont let you perform any longer combos to pervent any cheese as a result of the speed bonus.
Also for some reason the last cutscene in the game is missing in the remake. Like, why?? I havent seen a single person bringing this up but yeah. They just didnt put it in the remake.
Explaining my reasoning for Kiwami 2 would take probably twice as much text, so Im gonna just leave it for now
0 > 1 > 6 > 2 > Gaiden > 5 > 8 > 7 > 3 > 4
I'd also rate Ishin very low. Very much towards the end of my list. Extremely ugly game. I noticed it right away and it never stopped bothering me. Looks like a PS2 game in a lot of ways. Incredibly grindy dungeon. Lacking a lot of the side activities of other Yakuza games. Combat basically broken as this post points out. Love interest I found boring and forgettable.
But he has 2 and ishin at the top. only the remakes are at the bottom. thats why im asking because i cant understand how a remake can ruin that much
Yakuza 2 and Kiwami 2 however are, even tho they have the same story, completely different games. They have a completely different tone, cinematography, mechanics, the progression system, pacing, soundtrack and more. These being different is not an issue. The execution of these elements is the issue, as well as the metric ton of cut content.
I wish I could compare it but unfortunately the original games aren't on Steam. I'm curious if I would like it more than Kiwami 2. Maybe I will emulate it someday
