Dondoko tutorial possibly broken.
The tutorial for Dondoko Island gave me the impression that assets can link to paths that you lay anywhere. But, when I tried it, nothing happened. Apparently, only the existing path is coded for asset links, which leaves a lot of wasted space.

tutorial part? isnt like breath of wild tutorial? you can acess only a small island/portion of land
what do you mean? if you have a building like Poppo or Ramen shop, you can create your own road and the guests should walk on it and use whatever is next to the path. I never tried to put a house on a custom path but it seems like you should be able too.

Only residences even need to be put on roads. You can have everything else in the middle of nowhere, I think guests just prefer and will try to stick to roads.

everything that guests interact with needs to be near a path or road to be used by the guests (decorations can be put anywhere).

when you're placing it you can actually see when its close enough, you'll see the words "available for guest use" or something near that in the info box. That goes away if you move it away from a path. So things don't have to be touching the path or road but they do have to be very near to it.

also residences can be places on paths but you need to place the path first then put in the residence.

X/square in building mode lets you build new paths, these act just like the road so you can build things in that space. its not wasted at all.

I don't know the keyboard button for that but it should literally be on screen in the build mode.

The assets link up just fine I've never had one not work I've watched guests use them all and the stats go up when i lay them. I have a fully built up island with a few "city block" setups with alleys built in and stuff and they all link up to paths fine.

So the tiles I buy from the owner aren't paths. Thank you for the explanation.

Guess that makes sense, I put as much as I could on the road the game gives you, then Tetris stacked other buildings in the middle because it was still adding to the score.

Now if you are right and the people will actually follow the additional roads, that might actually be a bad thing. They all walk so slow you probably want them to go as little distance as possible while interacting with as much as they can. I can still easily reach max happiness with guests with what is built on the main roads, with no interaction with them other than a campfire.

i assumed those were for keeping grass out of the edges of the buildings. Lots of them won't cover the grass area between it and the road, an issue with the model. I assume you can place those and then put buildings on top of them.

All I wanted to do was link the bend near the Hills with the main road near the Entrance, to shorten the guest commute and limit space for my main buildings.
