You need to find a spear and strike it on head, somewhere between the eyes. Doing so will humanely kill the squid

make sure all your team have at least spread attack from skill inheritance in case youre swallowed and also focus on the tentacles first not the squid

If it's weak to blades, as I recall it is, cutlery crash from the chef skill tree is a very good skill, that may inflict bleed, which will power up samurai blade skills.

If I recall correctly: One tentacle is weak to gun and the other is weak to blade, and the stomach thingies are weak to water (not sure if any other element) but the giant squid has no weaknesses which honestly feels like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ but it is what it is.

I personally played with Linebacker Kasuga, Geodance Chitose, Desperado Joon-gi and Samurai Adachi. I had aquanaut Tomizawa on reserve but he was kinda useless in that fight.

Basically I had adachi hitting one tentacle, joon-gi the other, and kasuga and chitose healing and attacking the squid when not necessary.

Geodancer Healing skill (the rainbow one) is amazing because it heals almost all hp and removes debuffs (the annoying cold that the squid seems to spam). It's kinda expensive but if you have MP recovery items it shouldn't be a problem.

Tentacles got me like 3 times, but it was manageable. The squid is extremely annoying but it has low damage so as long as you can recover more than what it damages you, you should be fine. The bartender poundmate is expensive but it can save you in a pinch.

I didn't find it hard but it's definitely a long fight, it's more like a healing/resource check rather than a dmg check. So if you have plenty of mp healing items, group healing, access to blade/gun attacks you should be fine. And I can't say it enough, the geodancer healing skill has to be one of the best in the game despite its mp cost. But if not, the aquanaut healing is also really good

If you are under-leveled and don't want to go back before the finale to level up, you can kinda cheese it with only Ichiban(Hero); You basically have to tank the damage, get into the stomach, heal up, get out and do some damage to the squid.
Always use (Hero's Guts) to stay alive, keep healing when you are in the stomach, use (Giga Swing) to get all the ink sacks in one turn and as soon you are out you get another turn, use the most powerful skill you have on the squid, and repeat. It's tedious but better than leaving the finale to level up and come back for it since the fights after the squid are easier.

Throw soy sauce on him watch him spazz out uncontrollably

Hit it until it dies.

It's very easy if you keep the tentacles out.

Ninja Chitose + Lightning element baton on Adachi. Heavy beatdown with lightning element erases tentacles in one go and with Ninja you can swap to Adachi reliably.

Don't get into the loop of constantly killing the arms. Try to rush down the head and heal when necessary.

The trick to when you get swallowed is that that you need to kill them all in one AoE. If a character who gets targeted to be swallowed can do that, then let it happen, but if it targets someone who can't do that then kill that tentacle ASAP.

Use Mask of Punishment and Mask of Fertility. Keep MP up.

Asakura would agree, nothing is better than a tough battle, it just makes you give all you got. (Shame on Sega and RGG to lock it with a DLC)

The game has a lot of tools to help you in battle.
With all that has been said above, don't forget poundmates with extra (for damage boost), friendship ultimate and Sujimancer ( magic damage dealer) very useful in this fight because he can use all the elements combine with magic boots : Just a big pain for the squid !
Of course don't forget the accessories for extra protection and buff.

I’m sorry but this is a terrible strategy lol
There's a Chef skill called Cutlery Crash which is a single enemy Heavy attack and yet it routinely does the most damage out of any other move I have. I stacked my entire team with it and ripped through the squid in 5 turns. Granted, I was overleveled by about 10 levels but that skill alone should carry you through the shark and squid (especially in the Big Swell DLC)

i was under level by maybe 4-5 levels but beat him with hero ichi (mostly using him as healer cause i like being a support type) samurai adachi cabbi tomi and ninja chitose. i beat it by timing when to kill its arms. cause then it took 2-3 turns for it to spawn another one. taking advantage of its weakness as well as using tomis skill to make it weak to certain types of attacks + high evasion shadow jutsu chitose got me to win finally

Essence of Sengoku + Cutlery Crash is a broken combo, especially if you use the ultimate bond beforehand for additional buffs, I finish the final Big Swell fight before the boss gets a turn (though I am a bit over-leveled at this point).
