Shogi cheat item not working?
Specifically the "Booze, Brawls, Brothers, and the Shogi Board" book you buy with Shogi points. In the LAD7, having this book in your inventory would've given you an option to activate it during a shogi game but I don't see it this time.

Oh... That makes sense, I'm still at 4 party members and wouldn't be able to see the effect. Guess I'll skip the 5-star gun then.

I think that's the book that unlocks the "Protect the Leader" option for autobattling.

As enamored as I am with the Japanese world that Yakuza opened up for me, the one thing (literally the one thing in the entire franchise) that I steadfastly refuse to meaningfully learn to play is shogi.

I'm far from the first to point this out, but you can just use an online shogi CPU opponent (in a browser) to reverse-play your way to success. Best part is that this is usually faster than using the cheat book item.

Yeah I'm aware of computer Shogi programs, used them in older Yakuza games for the sake of completion. I'm skipping that this game since puzzle shogi (fun enough to try out blind) was enough to meet Personality Challenge requirements.
