They should let you pick things up while riding the street surfer

I feel like the concept of the street surfer failed to take into account the possibility that the player might have a very strong collectathon reflex. Which is really kind of bizarre, given just how thoroughly this game leans on the practice of collecting anything that isn't bolted to the ground.

Bottom line is that even when I do use the damn street surfer, I find myself stepping off to pick up something and then stepping right back on. Over and over and over. It's not as though the act of picking something up ("Treasure Hunt" notwithstanding) has any kind of associated animation. Players are already using their imagination.

I sure hope the reason for this gameplay annoyance isn't that SEGA were looking to sidestep getting sued by somebody who tries picking up something off the ground while standing on a Segway.

It does feel kind of useless. It doesn't even let you avoid battles, and there's constantly stuff to either pick up or interact with that you can't do while on it.

The only reason to use it is to get somewhere quicker, but even then it's not that much faster than walking, and taxis will get you there way faster anyway. It's expensive to charge, too, so it doesn't even save you money over just taking taxis everywhere.

I haven't found a reason to get on it ever since I first tried it out.

It shouldn't LET you pick up stuff. It should automatically picks stuff up.

Yeah, it's a bit annoying to have to hop off the segway any time I want to pick up something or wave to someone. Like really, Ichiban can't go "HEEYYYY" or "ALOOHAAAA" and give people a wave from the segway? Hopefully it'll either get patched in or at least be a thing for the next game.

Good point, yes.

Assuming they open that possibility, they should also stop hiding the word/context bubbles above everyone's heads when you're on the street surfer.
