How much of this game is ruined by Yong Yea?

He's in Persona 3 too?

Having installed JP Kiryu mod, the difference is night and day. Instead of heating YongYea, I can actually hear Kiryu. Even his out of character NANI in Can Quest is more pleasant to hear.

Yeah, he plays some minor role in "P3" (Hayase).
Sadly, mods aren't an option for me since I'm interested in buying the PS5 version. ^^

What is the issue? I am playing 11 hours and currently at chapter 6 with English dubs.
Trying to understand what am I missing, because I did not notice any issue.

It's not as bad as people are saying it is, but it definitely caught me off-guard the first time hearing it. His voice just doesn't fit Kiryu at all.

its not as bad as the demo seemed but its weird as someone who played all the other games in japanese

anyway kiryu is only in like half the chapters after chap7

Only problem I have with it is that he's way too young. Real shame Darryl Kurylo didn't come back. He even dubbed Kiryu in the previous game and the original PS2 version.

But like any person who doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ and doesn't look so deep into it, I got over it.
To be honest, I never even heard of Yong Yea until I learned he was cast as a voice actor Kiryu. not even that... I also learned he voiced the final boss in Lost Judgment DLC, shortly after.

Edit: Just learned he voiced Enrico Pucci too. lmao

you had me excited over nothing man...this mod isn't finished yet for the story so it's kind of useless unless you want to just do all the side stuff and not touch the story yet.

I hope someone eventually does an AI Kuroda mod. Saw the video someone posted and it's basically Keith David and now I want Keith David voicing Kiryu because it sounds so perfect to me.

I feel like the writing in this game was much worse than Yong’s English dub. So, there’s bigger issues to be had, in my opinion.

… yeah that I didn’t understand so much. He didn’t look Japanese. And I don’t think the game clarified if he was raised in Japan, either. I don’t know. It just threw me off.

I've been shrugging off alot of criticism with this game, but I have to agree with this one. I realize they may have had trouble casting the part, but if Bryce's VA spoke native English (or a Japanese VA who could really nail an American accent) alongside proper Japanese, it would've worked better.

Didn't really bother me. Having just played Marvel's Midnight Suns recently, going from one Matt Mercer main character, straight to another Matt Mercer main character is more annoying. I wish video game companies would find some more variety in their voice actors. It sucks hearing the same voice actors in every single big game that comes out.
