What does it do exactly? The effect says "Physical attack damage is derived from Willpower instead of defense."

Is it trying to actually say that physical attack damage to you is derived from Willpower instead of defense?

Or is it trying to say Physical attack damage is derived from Willpower instead of ATTACK?

from my understanding your defense comes from your willpower instead of your actual defense stat

The issue is that depending on where the mistake is, it could mean either what you said or it could mean attack damage instead of defense.

I'm saying that the mistake in the sentence can be that they wrote defense by accident instead of attack. Either the first part of the sentence was a mistake or the last part of it was a mistake.

Yeah by wording only its a bit weird but my understanding is it just checks your will vs phys attacks as well

i think there are accessories that lowers your defense in exchange for some other boost like gain more exp and such, so it make sense that there would be a gear to negate your lowered defense with your willpower instead. If it is some sort of mistranslation/ poor wording this game is still pretty fresh so translations are bound to be a little rough

It basically means any physical damage you take is instead magic damage.
