Thank you very much! Currently watching it right now and the game definitely looks very promising, achievement hunting is a big hobby of mine so it's nice to have a full overview from someone that went through and 100%'d the game, very appreciative of the Steam Deck section as well although it was about what I expected for the game.
Currently the only Yakuza games I've played is 0 and then I fully completed 7 afterwards (I have 1-4 but haven't played through yet), I ended up enjoying the JRPG format a lot more compared to the rest of the series for some reason.
A review is a review. It literally does not take long to look through. I'd rather have the reviews as they are then have strict rules because people like something I dislike, dislikes something I like or just wants to meme. We live in the age of entitlement. Everyone is entitled but at the crux of all this nonsense is the simple logic. No studio is entitled to the consumer's money and the consumer is free to decide to buy or not buy something for whatever the reason. They're free to complain about it within reason and everyone else is free to ignore it. That's not an entitlement. That's just a right.
my new favorite game lol my previous was Like a dragon 1
this game is like a much more immersive lad1
better combat then lad1 {due to the motion}
much more and better minigames {including basicly pokemon and animal crossing}
better soundtrack then lad1
less grindy then lad1
brand new setting {hawaii}
feels like theres actually progression since u cant go everywhere on the map from the start
the new instakill 10 lvl lower enemys thing is also nice
overall this is basicly just better Lad1
The combat, the story, the characters, the activities, It's all good, like really good.
Yong Yea sucks as Kiryu, other than that sour spot nothing I have played up to Chapter ~6 has been bad, I love it.
/endreview
I have some issues with Ichiban as a character, and some decisions characters made throughout the story but otherwise it's fine. The 1/4th of the game though is very.. Awkwardly paced in my opinion, and the way they told the story here probably shouldn't happen again. The story itself was acceptable as a whole, without nitpicking.
I've heard a lot of things about the new voice actor, some voice clips from Gaiden as well. I'll be probably playing the game dubbed regardless but is it actually that unbearable or are people just being extremely vocal about it?
besides that it shouldnt be hard to find reviews that talk about the game directly. Not sure why exactly you would need reviews for it. If you played the previous Yakuza games before you know what you will get. If not, you shouldnt start with this one anyway.
That's exactly my intention "Yong Yea sucks AS KIRYU".
He is a good fit for tons of roles I am sure, but Kiryu is older, wiser and more gruff and Yong just sounds way too young, you can feel the "try" in his performance it doesn't feel natural.
It doesn't ruin the game, but it does stand out amongst the other performances in english.
