[Spoiler] hello work
I just bought infinite wealth to day and like it so far. But there's one thing that is a bit odd to me. So ichiban give ex yakuzas a chance to work and gets punished for that by a v-tuber. The thing is, I don't really feel like it's completely unjustified. While he doesn't directly benefit, adachi does, as it helps him expanding his business. I do understand that there is no real other option for ex mobsters in the game to get a job but, still

Also ichiban made a ex criminal do shoplifting to give adachi the chance to offer the business owner a security concept? Did I miss something or is this plain criminal business?

No, it's legit.

Companies hire people like Adachi to test out security via methods like this, usually upper management.

In other words Adachi isn't racketeering.

So his company was already hired at this point? Guess I missed that information

Yup, this is indeed legit security consulting (sometimes referred to as "physical penetration testing"). For further examples, see the 1992 film "Sneakers."

And when Adachi is going over the items taken throughout the day, he even mentions something along the lines of "that about covers it for what they hired us to do."

To be honest, even though i figrued that was what was going on, it wasn't exactly spelled out very plainly that they were hired in the first place until the line Drakan mentions.

For even more fun, and less Hollywood, there are some really entertaining, fun, and informative talks available on YT. Here's some to get you started:

I'll let myself in: Tactics of Physical Pen Testers // Deviant Ollam (Wild West Hacking Fest)
Elevator Hacking - From the Pit to the Penthouse // Deviant Ollam & Howard Payne (DEF CON 22)
Steal Everything, Kill Everyone, Cause Total Financial Ruin! // Jayson E. Street (DEF CON 19)

Yes!!! Ollam literally wrote the book on this stuff. He's an absolute legend and the reason I started honing a physical security skillset!

Well, the five year rule is a thing, and Ichiban mentions that he's technically committed fraud on occasion to get a former Yakuza a bank account, so technically he is still breaking the law.

That's probably deliberate; you're meant to wonder WTF until Adachi mentions it's completely legit.

More gray area stuff, really. Ichiban really wants to help these guys integrate back into society, but given their limited prospects, getting them back in is an uphill climb, hence why he's doing for them what was done for him, finding a grey zone way to transition them away from poverty.

A big part of his character is understanding how the downtrodden don't have the luxury of taking the road available to more "respectable" members of society, so he's doing the best he can within the limitations, even if it means using the same technical skirting of the law because that's the only way to have them avoid relapsing into outright crime.
