Progress the story or complete sidequests as they show up?
Title. Currently in chapter 3 and noticed sidequests opened up in the map. Should I save those for later or do them right away?

I'd like to unlock the job switch feature but also don't want to miss out on sidequests content.

Side stories, assuming it's balanced like in 7, appear in that level range you can first obtain them in. If you wait, substories are going to be a joke, and some of them have you fighting bosses

Are they missable, though? I don't mind being overleveled.

Judging from past games, they're not missable but you may have to wait a long while to have the option to do them. Like maybe the side quest only happens at night but only certain chapters are at night and unlocking day/night options only happens after beating the game.

They aren't missable, but like the person above said if the substory requires something specific, like location or time of day, if you miss out on them now at worst you need to go on premium adventure to get those side stories. Game lays it on thick that there are points of no return though

As per Yakuza games there is always a couple that are missable, the majority aren't, but some will be only available during specific chapters and after specific events.
