Why is everyone british in void bastards they're in space, wtf?
Why does everyone from Darksiders speak english they're literal agents of the apocalypse, wtf?
Why do all of the fish in finding Nemo speak english they're fish in the ocean, wtf?
(its easier to write stories in languages you are comfortable in so people tend to do that, this is the real reason. Audiences usually agree to suspend their disbelief for such small things because we all understand it makes the story easier to consume and tell. Its also why people are seen as spoil sports when they try to point it out)
That said it does break the 4th wall a bit and off putting to hear Ichiban struggle to find someone who can speak Japanese in an American city when he's speaking English the whole time (if you have the English dub on), and even worse when he says his English is really bad (it's not, it's at least average). But we're supposed to remember that he's always speaking Japanese outside of that time when he makes it clear he's speaking broken English (like when he's getting into a fight with thugs harassing a girl).
That said there's already mods that will make characters that only speak English in the story speak English and have the Japanese speaking characters canoncally speak Japanese.
Wait, really? Going to look for those.
bro... lmao
That said, mainly it's a videogame.
That said, it appears some of our heroes speak a bit of English.
