There are games where you have a character creator and can, depending on how far the game designers go, assume the identity of an orphan who spent years training as a civic engineer with a stutter and occasional depression. That's fine. Not my thing and I think it's a bit ridiculpus, but if that's what you need to be happy, maybe there are games for you out there.
