Difficulty options
Hi, I have just a simple question:

Do I need to buy the deluxe or the DLC to select higher difficulties?

I read the DLC unlocks difficulties for NG+, but I'd like to know if with the DLC I can select the difficulty from the start in a new game (no NG+).

Yes, ng+ and extra difficulties are paywalled

Extra difficulties are just for NG+, right?
If I don't play NG+, there is no way (with or without DLC) to play on higher difficulties.
Am I right?

Calling them difficulty options is kind of a misnomer. It's not like Shin Megami Tensei where you pick it in the beginning to get a game balanced to your skill level. They really are just there to give you appropriately leveled enemies for a second and third playthrough. A second and third loop, if you will. If you were to attempt them on a fresh save it would quite literally be impossible as the enemies superior stats would give them initiative every time and they would kill you in one hit even if you perfect block. Theoretically I guess you could use the DLC to make up a kind of hard mode by playing, say a third of the campaign on normal and then start a harder difficulty with those stats or something but it really would be more trouble than it's worth. Just play Shin Megami Tensei V or Dragon Quest 11 if you want real difficulty options. And hey, if no one buys this crap DLC maybe they'll implement real difficulty options instead in the next game!

Ahh, well that at least explains this confusion, thanks.

Well.... I happened to notice that stat boost drinks are available as a reward from shogi. I imagine that a person could in theory build himself up just from spamming shoji puzzles. Enough to survive until they get their bearings.

Obviously this would not make for a fun game.

Thank you! I don't know why I thought that yakuza Like a dragon had the difficulties from the beginning, so I was a bit confused why this one, the sequel, didn't have the choice. But I was wrong.

Btw I love Dragon Quest series (DQ VIII is my favourite) and I played DQXI with "stonger enemies", since It was too easy without that setting.
I like higher difficulties that's why I was askin for this game too.

I really liked so much Yakuza Like a dragon and I'm a bit sad for this weird DLC choices, but I'm sure the game will be good!

Thanks again!
