Judgement/Lost Judgement before IW
Hi all, I've played and completed Yakuza 0-6, Gaiden and Like a Dragon.

Do you think I'll miss much jumping straight in to IW tomorrow or would I benefit from playing at least LJ first? I can't think there'd be too many spoilers considering the location and the characters?

There's no relation between Judgment IP and Yakuza IP.

True, but I already met Kaito from the Yagami detective agency in Gaiden and I just don't want anything too bad that it'll ruin Judgement for me :lunar2019coolpig:
Theres a relation in that it is in the same universe, same cities but there probably isnt any overlap from j1 and lj in y8. So far kaito showed up in Gaiden as a substory character but had nothing to do with his games or thier stories.

I think you should play them because both games are probably in the top 5 yakuza games. Both stories doesn't cross but what happens in yakuza has a bit of repercussion in judgment because it happens in the same city and world.

I meant the story doesn't correlate at all. They have their own story.
Yeah i knew what you meant just clarifying for OP. They would have to go way out of their way to spoil any thing from the judgment games, so it is very unlikely

Judgment 1 doesn't contain really any references to the main series besides having the Tojo around. LJ explores what happened to the Yakuza after the ending of 7, but is still largely disconnected from the main series and doesn't need to be played for IW. You still should play them at some point though, they are both really fantastic games.

You wont miss anything probably, but still worth playing Judgement at least.

So I doubt that there will be any story overlap between LAD:IW and Judgment. I can imagine a guest appearance by Kaito, like in the last Gaiden game. Yagami is rather unlikely.

But you should play both Judgment Titles regardless.

If you dont have a problem with darker stuff instead of a comedic take, go play judgement and lost judgement

Don't get me wrong guys, I'm absolutely going to play both of the Judgements and I've already got them installed and ready to go but I just wanted to know if I'd ruin IW for myself if I didn't pick up on characters that might appear or such.

Thanks for all the replies, kyodais :)

Judgement and Lost Judgement are NOT Yakuza/ Like A Dragon games. They are just in the same universe. That's like saying that Superman and Batman are the same person. We all know that they are not but they both reside in the universe.

You might want to play Ishin as well, I heard there will be spoilers for that game as well!! haha

Seriously though you will probably be fine but they are good games if you decide to give them ago.

Recently completed both of them and Gaiden. There are nods to each other, and Kaito is in Gaiden for a decent little sub-story, but all-in-all, the Judgement series stands alone, but exist in the same cities and universe. I don't think Yagami or any of the gang will have anything to do with this game since it takes place in Hawaii. Yagami is also a lawyer-turned-detective so he's kind of on the opposite side of the law than Kiryu/Ichiban were when they were in Yakuza families. Judgement has a very dark tone and the story is f a n t a s t i c whereas Lost Judgement has a little lighter of a tone (but is still pretty dark at times) with a less compelling story but f a n t a s t i c combat. All in all, I don't believe you'd need to play J/LJ at all/the stories won't really intersect in this game. Kaito being in Gaiden was more of a nod to fans who have been begging for a new Judgement entry for a long time. Hope this helps :)
