tekken kazuya kiryu eight game
that love turn-based RPGs.
Whereas the others in the series were eventual Humble Bundle Monthly pickups or deep sales/PsPlus things.
Different strokes for different folks. there's a quote or interview from the creator you can google saying that they were blown away and surprised at the commercial and critical success of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and so it made sense to follow suit.
(At the end of the day even if this is only for Ichiban's games it makes more sense too since it fits his Dragon Quest-fanboyism character origins)
Hey, atleast RGG is still making Judgement and things like Ishin/Gaiden for the original fans; a lot of other studios like Square or Capcom have changed the core of their flagship Final Fantasy/Resident Evil games respectively and *completely* snubbed us OG fans.
RGG are still appeasing everyone in a stellar win-win move.
I like the new change. I don't quite love it but I do like how they tried to shake the series up a little. If it was your standard turn base mechanics like it was back in FF and DQ days I would totally be beitching with the rest of you. The fact that Ichiban and the crew can combine their skills to perform over the top moves with each other gives the fighting a KICK in the ass (pun intended) to keep the series fresh. For those that are coming to LADIW from LAD TMWEHN might be confused on why the switch. (All the games prior to LAD7 was brawling. Since LAD TMWEHN is Kiryu's story they went back to the OG style.)
For those that have started playing the series with LAD7 and then played LAD TMWEHN might not like the brawling style and might be happy to go back to the RPG turn base mechanics in to LADIW. But for those that have been with the series from the start I feel your guys frustration. I don't take kindly to change very well, especially with things that I love. This is life. Change can be a good thing and in this case I feel that it is.
I remember when the Super Nintendo came out and I saw that Nintendo added 4 more buttons to the standard controller. I hated that because for ten years I only had to remember four buttons. I felt like I wouldn't be able to remember what the extra buttons would do. With the extra 4 buttons you are able to do so much more in the game. That is how I feel about the turn base mechanics. I feel that it brings the characters closer together as a team.
That is my thoughts on the transition from brawling to turn base. Change is not going to be pleasant for everyone. If we want to continue to do the things we love (like playing the awesome series of Yakuza (OG) Like a Dragon (NG) ) Then we are going to have to adapt or lose out on the things we love in life. (not just video games)
He is, Yakuza is now a turn based franchise. Cry more.
I'm glad both styles of gameplay and the Dragon Engine itself continue to be iterated on.
They're both spin offs and Ishin was a PS2 game. The developers have already confirmed that every mainline Yakuza game will be turn based going forward.

Sorry, I meant, PS3.
I'm pretty sure we're gonna keep having brawlers, just maybe not as major as new numbered ones. Who cares anyway. Judgments spin-offs are miles ahead of 7 and this 8.
