Pre-release reviews shouldn't matter. It's all paid marketing.

With the marketing SEGA put into this one, I would not doubt it. Let's just hope this isn't MGSV magnitudes of shilling.

I have never, would never, consider playing a Yakuza game in English...and I feel for those that do.

You're in for a world of hurt.

I actually prefer steam reviews more, Because with steam reviews, we can actually see how many hours they put in the game. Sure they can just afk and inflate it so it's not 100% accurate, but its still more credible than game journo reviews.

In Steam, you can inspect the reviewer's playtime and achievements, they CAN be faked, but at the very least that's an extra step that isn't even available for game journos.

For context, Yakuza 7 was an average of 84. Ign gave it a 7. As a sidenote- I would give it a 9.5

There's no review score that's going to influence me, but it would be nice if the series got more acclaim.

Just a heads up.

With a total of 96 total reviews across all platforms, the average score right now on Metacritic is 90.28125.

anything above a 7 means I'll enjoy it. It must be pretty damn good to get that high of a score or Sega finally opened their wallet and started bribing idiot journoscum like the rest of the industry. Their opinions mean very little unless there's major issues, which they tend to be good at pointing out. The small stuff they tend to focus on is irrelevant to normal people.
