turn-based yakuza is unbelievably boring
can't wait for another snoozefest. my favorite part about yakuza 7 was turning on autobattle for all the unnecessarily long story encounters while I read a book, so excited for this enthralling gameplay experience again! at least if this sells well it will provide funding for Judgment 3. personally I think this game will be best experienced with some fine grog and the soothing ambiance of the high seas from my captain's quarters.

I don't get why people crap on turn-based. Or non-turn-based for that matter. I like both styles, but honestly I'm more of a turn-based fan from FF and DQ and too many other examples to name.

It's cool if it's not your thing, but to actively crap on a play style just seems a bit silly.

I guess it's because a younger generation or people are just aren't patient with combat. Speaking of the latter, it reminds me of people who care less about the "how did we get to this point in anime/story" and much more about the fighting that follows.

The combat is boring and the main character is an annoying 40 year old dude who acts like a 12 year old child, so mediocre overall.
Characters and story was fine on the first turn-based one, but for me turn based is slow and boring from gameplay perspective.

Personally not gonna buy it instantly and wait for a good steam sale. (Gotta complete the franchise and i know the side content is gonna be lit and story prolly decent)
Atleast they are still also making the action based like a dragon games for now too and next one is releasing in November
i find standard action RPG or beat-em ups extremely stale and desperately want more turn based RPG's set in modern times. i will always look forward to this series til they switch it up again

As opposed to the most bland and stoic MC in the history of video games....who makes the MC of Shenmue look like he's Goro by comparison? I'll take Ichiban. At least he's got a personality and doesn't look constipated at all times.
I think you genuinely misread Kazuma Kiryu is thats your takeaway.
For what it's worth, there is likely to be a brawler mod to be released sometime down the pipeline for the game.

It happened with Yakuza 7 recently so it's not too far out of the question the same might happen here.

Personally I'm not too big on the turn-based combat, it kinda takes away from the climactic shirtless battles with the final boss, but it was enjoyable enough for me to go through a playthrough. It's what I went in for, really.

Lots of people have voiced it. I've played the yakuza games before Y7 and he's clearly the weakest link. The Japanese immersion(cities/culture/manners), the stories, and the side characters are leagues above better, in their own rights, than what Kiryu is as a MC.

Ichiban, Yagami, and Kaito are all better.

Kiryu is barely more personable than the games where you create your own character. He's often overshadowed by MANY characters in his own games, not just by Goro. He's like a more bland Deku in the My Hero Academia universe.

The more you speak on the matter, the more i'm convinced you dont get him as a character.

This isnt to say he cant be your weakest link or just not care for him, but you seem to have not really thought about how he's always portrayed in-character, no matter the activity content.

You may have a different view on him, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you're more right than I am. It's an opinion, for both of us, and that's all it will ever be.

why do people dont understand, turn based is not obsolete, it is a genere, some people like it, some does not, live and let live...

More interesting than button mashing the same combo for 50 hours. It's insane that Yakuza fans think their series is like, the height of action combat that is never allowed to change
Its more about the how cathartic it is to pummel random dudes on the street and that doesnt translate to RPG gameplay.
