Here it is: Tony Hawks Pro Skater HD
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is a remixed version of the first and second games in the series. It features levels, skaters, and music from both games in HD using the Unreal Engine as a base. The lack of multiplayer on the PC version is disappointing, but the game is budget priced at $10 so fact it is not included is a pretty small complaint. The Unreal Engine runs the game fairly well, with only minor graphics issues and great looking levels. The challenges from the Campaign mode have been left intact giving the game a generous helping of nostalgia for the player. This is not the definitive version of either game though, and a lot of the issues come from sloppy programming; combos not working properly, falling from graphical glitches, and physics issues causing the player to be skyrocketed into the air when hitting a ledge wrong. It's a fun romp through some old content, but overall it just seems hastily done; especially when a well made version would have brought back a lot of life into this dead series. Don't go into this expecting the same feeling you got from playing the original, it just isn't going to happen. Newcomers should go into the game knowing it is no more than a simple HD cash-in at the nostalgia bank, but with no other skateboarding games to choose from it does it's job just fine.

PROS:
- Good amount of content for a budget price.
- Levels look better than ever.
- Some of the best levels from the first two games.
- Gameplay is relatively smooth and feels similar to the original.
- Soundtrack features some great tunes from the first and second game as well as some new ones.
- Lots of upgrades and tricks to buy for each character.
- Plays similar to the original games.
- Campaign mode is fun and offers a lot of replay for each level.
- Controller support as well as full keyboard support.

CONS:
- Player models are low poly count and look generally unpleasant.
- Combo system sometimes drops current combo and starts a new one for no reason.
- Hitting a ledge wrong can send your character skyrocketing into the air, wasting valuable time and looking ridiculous.
- Lack of graphics options don't allow for much customization other than resolution.
- Can no longer skip audio tracks if you don't like one.
- Characters cannot be customized other than preset styles.
- No multiplayer modes at all on the PC version.
- DLC required to perform a revert.

Conclusion:
If you want a cheap trip down memory lane, or are just looking for a skateboarding game for your PC collection, this game will do the trick; just don't go into it expecting AAA title quality and features and you will come out satisfied.

DLC required to perform a revert, that is not true, I can revert I don't own DLC
Other cons could be

Not all the levels from both 1 & 2 - I was highly disappointed about.
Point less cheats
No videos to unlock from each character, so no reply value.

But overall it was worth it for the £4.99 I got it for.

Thanks for bringing those points up. I'm not sure why you can revert without the DLC, you aren't supposed to be able too. So that's a glitch or bug, but at least it works out in the gamers favor! Yeah, I was hoping they would release packs of levels for it, as I would gladly keep paying a few dollars here and there to add some of the other levels to the game. The cheats I also agree with. Cheats which do not affect gameplay stop the game from saving or achievements. They missed an opportunity for some neat hidden achievements, but they seem to have missed the opportunity on a lot of things. As for the videos, they could have easily put the old ones from the original games in it and it would have been fine, I wasn't expecting them out of a budget title though. Thanks for reading and commenting!

I agree with this post and can't understand all the hate the game is getting. Maybe if you enjoyed the multiplayer part of the original (We only took turns with my friend or brother) this is lacking something.

Controls are absolutely horrible but after I downloaded the THPS HD launcher, and changed back to the controls I had in THPS 2, I have had so much fun from this game. The lack of options is a big let down in this game, but then again there weren't much options in the games this is recreating ;). The music option would be nice though, like you said.

Sure there aren't all the levels and that's my biggest disappointment. Although this isn't really a fair complaint since that it is said in the game description. I'd just wish they had done 'em all, since all the city maps seem to be missing from both THPS1 and THPS2.

The physics engine surely isn't the best, but since I've already completed all gaps, all objectives of the basic and did 800 000 points in venice beach in just about 30 seconds, I see no big problem with it. It's not a game breaker. I'm not even a good player.

I just wish there were more unlockables(levels etc.). I mean there are plenty of things to do, but "nothing" to drive me into doing those apart from the fun from the game. The reason I hunted for gaps in thps2 was the fact that I knew there was just some actual reward like videos, characters and levels(not talking about achievements, but even those would do). I'd hope they would add the rest of the levels later on, I might even pay for them although not much, maybe an euro or two.

The graphics didn't really matter, I just wanted to play this game since neither of the previous versions doesn't work for me anymore.

Thanks for taking the time to read and give your opinions on the game and my original points. I wish it got less hate for being an Arcade game but in reality that's all it is. People shouldn't go into it expecting a AAA $60 experience and content, and they will be much happier with their purchase. I mean it's $10... lmao. You easily get $10 worth of Tony Hawks, and it's worlds better than any other THPS release in the last few years for sure.

People here don't seem to understand the fact that $10 to you isn't the same thing as $10 to someone else.
Jinxvorheeze 2013 年 1 月 7 日 下午 7:21
Good point, I understand $10 can be a lot more money to some people than others. And a cheaper price tag should not excuse poor quality. The comparisson I was attempting to make is about the content desired by players being more than what a $10 (not-on-sale) purchase should be justified to warrant. It would have been nice to have more features added, but I base the review off the value for the price, and for $10 I think the game has plenty of content to keep fans of the series happy. With the exclusion of multiplayer a lot of the complaints by players of quality have been satisfied in patches, and the developers and publisher have at least shown an interest in supporting the product, which is something worth noting. But the value of a title will always be a matter of opinion, as you said; "$10 to you isn't the same thing as $10 to someone else." In no means do I think $10 is nothing, or not worth worrying about quality over. My feeling on the price is this; You do get a lot of content out of the game, and while it isn't everything players hoped, they aren't asking you to pay AAA price ($60); it shouldn't be expected to get a full AAA experience. The experience offered is well worth the price you pay, especially if you go into the game knowing what to expect (I.E. No multiplayer, not all levels from both games...). I don't pretend to know if the game is worth $10 for everyone, I simply give the information I have about the game to fellow players so they can make a more informed decision.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment! I appreciate it [4]ner! Cheers, and happy gaming!

tl/dr, you're making way too much of this. you could have just skipped to the conclusion and left it at that.
anyone ever tell you, you talk too much? i bet many people have...
Jinxvorheeze 2013 年 1 月 11 日 下午 2:04
It's a review. Sorry that it was too long for your simple mind to handle. I would say I'd shorten it up, but I write above a 3rd grade level so you wouldn't be able to read it anyways. Thanks for not reading but commenting anyways. Good luck with your next 3,500 hours of Black Ops and Killing Floor.
perato 2013 年 1 月 11 日 下午 3:07
Yeah, I think that even though the price is "bigger" to somebody it really doesn't matter. The game isn't indie, as far it has music that needs licence payments, it has trademarks that might need licence payments, it's from big publisher so either way the publisher takes crap load of money from between. So they had to cut costs and corners at some point to make it at the same time remake of 2 AAA games from before and still have it at price that people would pay. Since most payers are the owners of these 2 products, it's not likely they would have paid for graphics update the full 50 $. Honestly, people seem to think that making games is cheap and that everything should be like 1-10$. You'd have to sell millions and millions of copies with these prices alone to make due with small studio, let alone with everything I already said.

So maybe it's not worth the money to you, but it's propably the only thing they could've done. And most of the features were mentioned before so it's kinda stupid to cry how this game lacks something that it doesn't even pretend to have.
Jinxvorheeze 2013 年 1 月 11 日 下午 3:20
I couldn't agree more. The value of a dollar is only based on the person holding it. I was happy with my purchase, someone looking for more content may want to wait for something else to come along, but I felt the game holds a significant amount of content for $10. I would have happily payed more for more titles, but with the outcry on the price of the game already I just can't see them making more money going a different route. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment, happy gaming!
