Same issue here after playing flawlessly for 10 days. I did however purchase and equipped a couple of new cosmetics last night, and after I logged out, I couldn't login anymore.

I had this too. I looked at the log and it's because of a FPS drop, dropped to 3FPS for some reason. I tried everything possible. What worked for me, and I'm not saying this is the solution. I changed the program settings of Islands of Sanctuary in Nvidia Control Panel to the "High performance Nvidia Processor" (Note: my system also has onboard graphics) even though it was already using this (saw it in the log file). Then I changed The settings below.

Vsync was turned Off
Texture Filtering - Quiiality changed to Performance
Texture Filtering - Anisotropic sample optimisation changed to On
Power Management changed to Prefer maximum Performance
Max Frame Rate changed to Off
Antialising - Mode changed to Off

I changed all these at the same time so I don't know if it's one, all or some of these that helped it. But as soon as I changed things to how I felt it would helped, I was able to log in and play for hours without issue, after not being able to play for two days with crashing every single time within a minute or not getting past the menu.

Edit: Also playing today with no issues.

Unfortunately the error a lot of us are getting regarding the D3DVertexBuffer is on their side, so no amount of changing settings around will fix it. We swapped to my roommate's steam account and he was able to log in just fine using my computer.

In this case, I would submit an official ticket on their website with the log file. The log files can be found at C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\IslandsofInsight\Saved\Logs

Oh yeah I chatted back and forth with support for several days. I've even let them know I expect the cause is certain customization options / outfits not rendering correctly. Last communication I had with them was on Friday saying it's a top priority and they're working on a fix.

Hello!
Apologies to those experiencing this issue, and to echo what has already been said - this is something our team is looking into.
That said, if you haven't yet done so, do consider opening a ticket with our support team: {LINK REMOVED}

Can we please get an ETA on this? It's insane that this is not a top priority and hasn't been fixed yet. There is people who haven't been able to log in for over a week. There is no official posts from the devs, acknowledging this bug. How are we suppose to take what you're saying seriously considering this was an issue as far back as September of last year and still happening even today after the fully released game.

At least give us an update on this and if possible, help the people who is affected now and do not have them wait for another unspecified amount of time. You have our crash reports and our Cloud ID's. It's unacceptable in my opinion to not being able to play a game for over a week that we purchased.

It is not a problem on our end if you can log into another Steam account on the same computer and the game works just fine. The troubleshooting steps the support team have us do make no sense when this is the case.

To end this on a positive note, I've not had this much fun with a game in a very, very long time. For a puzzle game enjoyer, this is the Magnum Opus (at least for me). I had put over 100 hours into it when this bug prevented me from logging in.

support just gave me troubleshooting action items and after i exhausted them all to no avail they flocked away with no further details given. didn't even acknowledge it's a server side issue which seems obvious from unreal crash report

Did you by any chance log out in the western most zone? Shady Wildwood. I logged out right next to the daily quest statue. It's at the fast travel point.

adding an offline mode would give me more confidence to buy the game. even if you designed it around shared world, if someone doesnt want it but still likes to play the game, why not give them the option.

That will probably not happen. The login crash is still an issue btw.
