How to play with friends?

My steam friend doesn't appear in my friends list in game. How can we party together?

That's the fun part, you don't. Even if you get them to join your lobby it does absolutely nothing for the gameplay apart from seeing them run around.

As far as I can tell you both have to keep randomly joining until you're lucky enough to get on the same server. Then you walk up to each other and friend them in game.

It requires luck and for the most part does nothing but allow you to see each other through walls.

Yea, but we can run to the same puzzle we're both struggling with in game and mess with it. Its immersive.

It would be very nice to play on the same server as a friend easily! That is disappointing!

Stream friends list joining works, but you have to close and reopen the game. It will not work properly the first time you launch the game.

Once you and your friend(s) have opened the game the second time, have one of you join the game normally, from the main menu there will be a join button from which you can join the same server as a friend. This will put you into the same server.

I'm not sure if you can change servers if you're already loaded in.

From in game, partying up is straight forward enough; press esc and invite your friend(s). Party members will have a glowing aura that is visible through walls to make them easy to find, and you can emote using the emote wheel (or other buttons, if you've bound them to hotkeys)

Managed to get the party invitation to popup in-game by spam clicking invite friend. Upon forcing the client to release cursor to be able to actually click accept it crashed the game. Is there a working method to actually get into a party, or to join a friend's server? Neither are working presently.

Except, if you're in voice chat together, what does being in a menu have to do with anything? Communicate with each other.

Wondering myself... me and wife started the game 8 times each... we see our names in the main menu. But the "join game" doesn't show up.

Not even if one of us is ingame. bug?

The ability to join friends has been broken for a few months now and god only knows why they decided to give the game away (and have everybody tell their friends about it) before fixing this issue.
