Lower area of the Pyramid

In the giant crystal labyrinth that makes up the lowest floor of the pyramid, there's an area in the center that's like a big cross or X with black floors in it. How the heck do I get in there? I've searched every inch of that labyrinth it seems like and I've made sure to point at every wall and click just to be sure there wasn't another fake wall that wanted me to have some number of mysteries unlocked to get in. I'm going crazy over here.
