PS4 Controller Support
Any plans for adding PS4 controller support for this game? It's been out for a while on other games and this game has been out for a while so I don't see why not?

There is no official PS4 controller support at the moment, and i'm not sure whether it is an intended feature or not. But i've seen several people saying they use some software to emulate an xbox360 controller and it works perfectly fine for them

For example, this topic

If you want more information about this, i'd recommend using the search feature in the forum to see what the other people with the same problem as you did. But most of them says it works ok for them, so i think you'll be able to make it work just fine!

You can emulate the xbox controller using DS4 tool or Scarlet Crush Production XInput wrapper

I'm curious to know what are the other games you are talking about with native ps4 controller support without any 3rd party software...
Anyway DS4 windows works well for me, i even map one button to take screenshot and call steam overlay ;)

Dying Light, Xenoverse, Mortal Kombat (doesn't show the buttons), GTAV, I know of a few others but I can't name them right now. I just don't know why they don't just support any controller.

Probably because it would take much more work than it looks, but i can't say for sure, since i never developed a game. That'd be my guess though

I use the PS4's DualShock 4 controller. There's programs you can download, and it's really simple.

Meh. I don't think so. I mean I haven't developed those games either but more than enough games do it and it's already wired to your computer as a controller. Same with Xbox. It's just that "controller" games automatically use the Xbox function and don't count other controllers because they know there are other programs to do it for them.

Yeah, but when you have a lot of games in your Steam library that work with PS4 controllers natively, it's annoying to have to boot up an unofficial program to run a controller as an XBOX controller when the controller you have is already registered as a controller on your PC.

2 years and still no support.. OK, you win

Lots of games does native support DS4 controllers, why I must install a third part software for this game ?

It does have DS4 controller support. You do need DS4Windows just to get DS4 controllers working on windows in the first place.

To explain this clearly, the game runs on XNA which was for xbox 360 indie games and pc games. XNA seems to only use DInput and XInput. The DS4 when connected wirelessly has some odd mapping. DS4Windows fixes the DS4 mapping so it acts as a native XInput controller. If you use this wired there shouldn't be an issue however you'd still need the software so it acts like an XInput controller for the newer games. If you still don't want to go through the hassle then I'd recommend you setup the controller through steam since it now natively supports the DS4.

SpeedRunners doesn't use XNA for controller support but SDL2 instead which support many more controllers[github.com]
