I did find that all the tiki gods are male, so I'm guessing that's pretty definative evidence, but I wonder if the developers took some creative liscense cause I'm sure I heard hothead reffered to as a girl a number of times.

I would reckon that he is male on physical attributes alone, we still dont know who Hothead is and won't really know until the full game is out and we have the story of the characters.
