Golden characters?

I haven't played a long time online, now I just got to play and two players appeared with golden outfits, they start the matches frozen and then during the run, they just get boosted in the air out of nowhere (like in the first round, in the air and before catching any boost or crate).
Did they add new advantages you can buy with real money or something? if so, I may have made a bad choice buying this game...

I'm not talking especifically about the outfits, rather about the random boosts they get. I don't think that's balanced at all

Looking at your answers it really seems like you just read half of what I write... I don't care about the characters nor the ice at the begginning I'm talking about the RANDOM BOOSTS THAT I'VE SEEN THEY HAVE DURING THE GAME.
They turbo out of nowhere without reaching any boxes or boosts. Should I write it ten more times?

Started a random match
in a match a player with a golden character appeared
the player started every run frozen
after unfreezing, the character got boosted in several random places with no turbo available nor a box item
this happened several times
another player with a golden character joined
this second player did the same
I'm talking about that
if it is not implemented in the game, there is a bug or there are people exploiting (wich I don't think is the case)
It is not result of lag, because lagged character get just teleported in the screen and don't get the particles from momentum (in the case of the golden characters, a golden trail)

you mean they kinda get boosted upwards when they hit a box? thats a common bug with boxes, not related to golden characters

Golden characters are handicapped characters you unlock at lvl 23. They are froze at the beginning of a round for 1.5 seconds and only have half boost. Any random boost they were getting was not linked to the golden characters

I'm asking because I haven't got track of the game's updates. I didn't take any screenshots and I don't remember the player's names, I do recall them speaking in portuguese, provably from Brazil, since I'm from Argentina and usually in online games I get connected to brazillians

what mechanics can you use in the air to gain a lot of momentum? please, enlight me, and remember, it has to be something you can do in the first round, being two screens away of the first boost, item and grapling surface and jumping before starting to move forward.

I'm going to give a complete explaination of how the golden characters work, if I didn't write it it's a bug or an exploit:
The golden characters are special skins for Speedrunner, Unic, Moonraker, Cosmonaut Comrade and Unic. You can unlock them between level 23 and 24.
These characters are cool to see (they are golden, they bling and they have a cool trail), but there's a trade-off: they get half of the regual maximum boost, they start frozen for a few seconds every round and they have a chance to get an useless item which push them backwards, the rest of their gameplay style is the same as the normal characters. You get extra XP if you play with them.
