Unlock all levels
I am not interested in playing the game solo at all - I really wanna enjoy it with my friends on a coach... Is there no way we can unlock all levels other than playing through the whole damn single-player campaign :( ?

You have to play on multiplayer lobbies (even local ones) in order to unlock stuff for the game (such as characters, maps, skins and so on)...single player is completely optional

Don't you have all maps by default?

not anymore, prior to the XP system update (the r40 one) everything was unlocked from the start, now you have to play the game in order to have everything (apart from the DLCs)

You can just spend an hour against bots unlocking everything, just find a workshop map with no ai volumes and then beat them over and over again until you hit a level where you feel more comfortable playing with friends

If you play local multiplayer matches, on your couch against your friends, you will unlock all the maps and content

Yeah we played local recently and unlocked a bunch of new characters even on my account, at level 12.
If you're starting from level 1, you'll probably unlock the important stuff in like 10 minutes, I imagine it'd be quite fun to see things open up.

I'm having this problem too, we just sat down to play and can't unlock anything and I don't want to play the game for hours to unlock everything and have an unfair advantage when we play again... how exactly do you create a local multiplayer lobby, when I tried, it started connecting me to other peoples games..... (UI is AWFUL btw!) reallllly fun game, just a shame it's so hard/confusing to play 4 player local with all the content

It's actually really easy to make a custom match (just a tiny bit hidden, sorry about that), so I'll try to explain it in some detail.

Open a custom match under the "Play" menu. Then click join in the left-most rectangle and choose your character. To add your friends into the group, simply move your mouse onto the boxes further to the right. Once you do that, a small menu should pop up. If you move your mouse over add, it should change to "local". Click on that, and you've added another controllable character to the group. \o/

Since this game is still in beta, there are a few things you need to watch out for:

1. When you open the little sub-menu by hovering your mouse over the rectangle, add won't change to say local until you highlight it with the mouse.

2. If you're using multiple keyboards, make sure your bindings aren't the same keys. Last time I played with a friend, the keys affected both players at the same time.

Wow. I made this into a freaking tutorial. :steamfacepalm:
