i think speedrunners have a plus that other "party" games do not have; the skill ceilling is VERY high, but it's so fun when you and your friends are new too. the weapons and the cheesy plays on speedrunners make this game very very fun to play with mates.
i bought a 4pack of this some months ago, and after that other eight or nine friends of mine bought it sepparately too because it is just a perfect game for that
check out youtube or the artwork section to see some fun cheese
When you buy the 4 pack does that mean you have 1 copy for yourself and can gift 4 more copies to your friends?
I can tell you that the trouble i had with this game when playing with friends(bought it originally in a four-pack with buddies), is that the skill ceiling is insanely high and if one of your friends plays less or learns slower than the rest, he/she will end up having a bad time playing in the group. Especially early on, you grow in this game pretty quickly... Same goes for if someone plays this game outside of the group, they end up becoming more skilled and the rest of the group ends up having a bad time due to falling behind in skill.
To sum up, in my opinion, if you are looking for a pure casual game to jump in and play with your friends(if that is the primary intention), Move or Die/Duck Game/TowerFall are most likely better options.
However, this is just my opinion, dont take it religiously, just sharing my personal experiance with this.
I ended up playing this game as a solo game, playing ranked and am highly enjoying it still after 200 hours, while my friends, that i bought it together with, dont really play anymore(stopped after about 30-50 hours i believe)...
Edit: I might clarify, that we did buy it with the intention to have a group game to play amidst ourselves...
I want a simple game to play with my friends online where we can laugh and just have fun together.
But we will be playing with keyboard... how are these games with keyboard control? Is it manageable or do you really need a controller to enjoy the game to its full potential?
Same, but my friend bought it for me, and he kinda quit, so I got way better than him, so whenever I play with my other friends now, they kinda hate it because of how much better I am than they are, so be careful of that.
Keyboard and controller are equal, no difference at all. Except for preference, my best friends play with keyboard, my other friends play with controller. None of us are better than others because of that though. Though, once you get good, you may break your X key due to grapple spams :)
and best players use keyboard. controllers are useful if you want to play at home with friends, but online it's fine.
Yeah, I was playing a lot of solo, without any of my friends, and when my friend got back, I taught him everything I learned, and he was just as good as I was at it. It's really easy to learn, too
