consistent fps lag

So whenever I play speedrunners, I get a consistent fps lag. There's no spikes, no freezing, just a low framerate. I tried running the game in windowed, fullscreen, with and without vsync, differing quality levels, nothing changed. There's just a consistent fps lag. This didn't used to happen back when I bought the game (a few months ago), but ever since i reinstalled it it has. My friend has this problem too, though I don't think he's tried much to fix it. I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 750, so it should be able to and has in the past been able to run this game perfectly fine. My friend has the 760 ti? I think? He's got a much better computer than me in general. Anyway, I can't really play the game like this, nor convince him not to return it (he just bought it yesterday). Please help!

Have you tried seeing if you have any processes that are taking to much memory. I would recommend checking if you have any applications open that are using too much CPU or RAM. Best way to do this would be through task managers. If that doesnt work you could check game cache integrity (or reinstall). Hope this helps o/

I have. With speedrunners, steam, discord and chrome running, i use about 30-40% cpu. And my memory is around 70%

I think it's something with the game. I really don't think it's the computer because, as i mentioned, my friend's got a pretty souped-up gaming pc and it lags the exact same way on his

Can you give me a little bit more detail?

1. What is your average FPS you're getting? What FPS were you getting before?
2. Have you made sure nothing like an antivirus scan is running when you play?
3. Have you checked out the settings that you can run the game with (frame limit method?)

+res 1920x1080 Sets the resolution.

+windowed Opens the game in a window.

+borderless Opens the game in a borderless fullscreen window. This will lower performance a bit, but makes alt+tab work much quicker than fullscreen.

+fullscreen Opens the game in fullscreen mode.
+novsync Turns off vsync.

+framelimit 144 Limits the frame rate. While 300 fps is technically the max, but we only officially support up to 144 fps.

+framelimitmethod 0 Experimental feature. There are 4 ways to limit the frame rate 0/1/2/3. If you have an irregular framerate play around with them, see what works best for you.

+stats Displays a statistics graph on top of the game. Useful to gather info on performance related issues.

+priority Experimental feature. Changes the thread priority of the game. Available options: normal/abovenormal/high/realtime.

+nomusic Turns off the music system.

+host Special mode for hosting tournament games as a referee. It will cause the first slot in a lobby not to play in the game, making it effectively a spectator.

+arcade Great for a no worries setup of the SpeedRunenrs in a public place. It will start the game in local party mode. You can only exit out of the game using ALT+F4 on the keyboard. Try it if you are giving a party, connect 4 controllers and just have it run in this mode.
