Crash after option change

PLEASE HELP! I downloaded this little gem a few weeks ago (I already had it on my old PC, back when it wasn't on Steam), and it worked perfectly until I made some small changes to the controller options. Now the game loads normally, but it crashes when I try to start, showing this:

I already checked file integrity, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but to no avail. Does anybody know what to do? Thanks a lot.
