my player and base running spede

my guy currently has 99 speed, so why is it that i can hit a groudn ball not hit that hard, players can dive and throw me out, but then when i field a ground ball at 2nd base the opposing players who have speed under 80 almost beat it out every time, my guy runs like he has molasses on his feet and i have 99 speed, is there a sprint button i am missing or something?

You need acceleration, and the difficulty changes your speed, and ai speed.

Being very fast at running won't make your release any quicker when you throw the ball. You need better fielding arm strength.

You can also make quick plays in the outfield with the modifier instead of taking the ball all the way into your glove and out.

Also it doesn't always matter how fast you can move around the bases, sometimes they just got you beat.

If you are getting thrown out at first then you're are swinging when you shouldn't be
