Thoughts on the price? Talk about it here.
We have some discussion going on about the price. You're welcome to discuss it as much as you like, but keep it civil.

We are going to merge all posts about the topic into this thread.

For our part, you should know that:
  • The price is the same as RealFlight Evolution in stores.
  • The price is comparable to RC simulators with similar content size and feature set here on Steam.

$100?! What a ripoff
I'd rather just buy a real RC Plane at that price.

EDIT: Y'all are crazy to justify that price.

Good luck with that.

If you are serious about getting into RC flying, this is the tool you need. The cost is justified as it is not a “Game”. It is a simulator tool that helps RC pilots hone their skill. As a new RC pilot you don’t have the muscle memory developed to fly well. It takes a lot of practice to develop it. This simulator is as close to being the real thing as you can get, and is just as accurate as well. Make your mistakes on the simulator. You can crash and just reset. There is no reset button in real life. That “$100 RC Plane” will become very expensive very fast for you.

I recommend buying an Eachine P-51 off of Banggood. You can get them pretty cheap. They have a beginner mode and because they are so light they take crashes really well. It will come with everything you need. Once you have some time with that, you might want to come back and reconsider this simulator to add to your RC tools arsenal.

Good luck with that. As someone who has built a couple... It's a lot more expensive than this game... Especially when you crash (and you will).

I think $60 is more in line with gaming in 2022.

I can not see me upgrading to Evolution at 30% discount, this new Version does not even come close to giving me 70% more then my 9.5s updated version i love the new UMX planes which i own in real life and would like to fly them on the Sim but not for 120 AU$ . And that means i will not be spending any money with Horizon to purchase future DLCs so by this short sighted discount structure there will be less on going revenue from the the current user base that will refuse to Update to Evolution because of paying around 2/3s more for a Sim they currently already own. Please wake up Horizon if you want customers to pay for future updates / DLCs Don't make them spend a fortune on an update that benefits Horizon going forward . A 70% minimum discount I could nearly swallow but not 30%( PS. i run 2 RF9.5s versions at home ) I would have no problems paying for updates DLCs for new content but not at this pricing structure. Please look this issue Horizon

I agree with you 100%.....

I've owned several of the RealFlight versions. I would like to get this, but I cannot justify the $100. If it was $60 I'd buy it tomorrow. Waiting till it hopefully goes on sale or you bring the price down.

FYI, just because others are overcharging for flightsim software, does not mean you should.

There are always two thoughts of school with pricing. Sell ten at AU$170 or sell a hundred at AU$80.

One pricing structure earns the publishers AU$1,700 while the other earns the publishers AU$8,000

Realflight isn't a "game" it is a simulator/tool for learning how to fly RC aircraft. It can be enjoyed, however the target demographic isn't the casual gamer, it is the RC aircraft pilot who wants to practice a new maneuver or stunt on a sim before performing on a real aircraft and potentially crashing which costs many times over what the price of this simulator costs. I use it myself and have saved thousands of dollars using it for what it was designed for. The physics are the best there is anywhere and the editor is deep, and you can replicate with great detail the actual flight characteristics of whatever aircraft you have. It is worth double what it costs if you use it for it's intended purpose.

Given the exchange rate that works out to $89.00 USD which is the same as here.

$12 for a field DLC. Really? Just 1 field?

You might want to start at a dollar, get some engagement and people buying, then start moving the price up.
wilma_dog Oct 19, 2023 @ 4:03am
There should be a loyalty trade in program for people with an earlier release. RF has changed very little over the years and people have had to pay full price continually for side grades. The price is steep from the get go but a side grade for $100 is kind of offensive.

Usually you get one major version upgrade for free, and you can often get a discount when upgrading from a prior version after that.

As for the price, Realflight is cheaper than major Sims, e.g. Aerofly RC 9.

So? That doesn't make it worth the money. It's got very dated graphics that look like they haven't changed in 15-20 years. It's objectively not worth double what it costs. It's worth $40 based on the quality of the software. This goes for Aerofly as well. Absolutely ridiculous prices for RC sims.

The "It's cheaper than crashing a real plane" thing does not make it worth the insane price for the item, that just makes it predatory pricing. MSFS is also a sim and costs less. With your crash argument it should cost a million.
