Well this game is longer out 11 years now so it is better.
Alone the crafting and engame is more fun.

You can also play the game with their launcher, so the steam player count is not all the players, The game had it's own launcher for more than 10 years so I'm pretty sure 90% if not even more of the players use that launcher because they don't know about the steam version that came few days ago.
Give the game some time, new players will definitely come.
Been playing the game for years and it always had a stable amount of players.

игра не мертвая, просто администрация никак не может решится открыть новый сервер, что б люди начали играть с интересом, а заходить на сервер, которому уже 10 лет.. точно не хотят
