Steam version compared to the free one?

Is this early access build any different to the free download off the creator's site? I have it downloaded and never ended up finishing it. So I was wanting to know if I should play through that first before this one or if the Steam version is pretty much identical at the moment

The vgperson website's version is almost exactly the same but without some additional features like an art-book or mini backstory episodes

Yeah, it's the same game but fully completed essentially, it's not a remaster like the steam version of Mad Father, and Misao, and perhaps lb. But, a complete edition of the game with extra content that will include all parts.

This has some extra content, but (as of yet) no continuation of the main story compared to the vgperson release.

They are the same, both are incomplete (missing the last chapter) though this version has steam exclusive extra stories + the artbook but they arent worth viewing until you've played the main story up to date.

What do you mean? From what you wrote, the vgperson version is better than the paid version on Steam, with additional content, compared to the Steam version.

However, this opinion doesn't seem to be entirely shared because the other answers seem to say that the game is identical.

As this is a Steam Early Access, I have high hopes that we will get some quality add-on content because otherwise, there is no reason to buy this version unless you want to support the creator...

It's the opposite, the steam version does have additional content compared to the vgperson
