A typical comment from someone who missed many points, well that shows you understand almost nothing from either game. 1st of all, YTTD is not really a detective killing game, it's a mysterious death game with a backstory plot that's different for each character but kind of linked together, not the same thing as Danganronpa where they all share the same story how they got there, just a bit of difference here and there that's rarely shared, YTTD it's not about ultimates and it's not similar in any sense. If you want to talk about rip-offs, then both games have gotten "inspired" by horror movies and concepts already shown in Saw movies for example.
I played both the Danganronpa series and YTTD, and as much as I enjoyed Danganronpa, it has its flaws; first of you don't really have a choice, the narrative is linear and leads to the same exact ending either way, YTTD gives you more options, but that's not even the most significant issue. Danganronpa characters are all in the same age circle 16yos, and yet most of the female characters have been fetishised one way or another, and there's always a male pervert (let alone Monokuma himself) which was at times highly inappropriate (hint to the second game).
YTTD has a different age group, and at that point yes it has hot characters, but they're not fetishised, and they're adults, which is weird why that feels like the bare minimum to have.
Again, I enjoyed both games, YTTD even in visuals isn't the same, can't deny that they have similarities but that's not just it. Danganronpa does not have mini-games in between, nor arguments and yada yada, it's mostly story driven (which isn't a bad thing) until the trial where it's STILL story-driven, but you have some games to do to reach a certain point.
SO if you prefer Danganronpa more, good for you, I don't see a problem with that, but the point you're coming from right now is just wrong on so many levels and unfair not only YTTD but also to Danganronpa.
Also to end this, the trials aren't even that confusing, I was more confused playing Danganronpa than playing YTTD trials, and I'm dumb when it comes to picking up hints, so that says something.
Anyhow have a good day! c:
If you want me to skip this suggest another new one.
(Also, nice bait)
Danganronpa is great if you love some cheesy tropes, over the top personalities and to not feel very invested in any characters, cause the game itself really doesn't treat their deaths very seriously since nearly everyones always perfectly fine and having a good time again a few minutes after the trials over.
Yttd is good if you feel invested in the characters since it's going to take their deaths more seriously, and tends to focus on the long term trauma of what's going on more.
It's just about what kind of experience you prefer. A game that doesn't take itself very seriously, or a game that goes into the darker details.
Thats like saying: dont play digimon games at all because pokemon is better.
We can have and play both games so why not do exactly that right?
