Worthy upgrade?

I own the original on Steam but have only played it for a short time, years ago. I do love Beat 'em ups. Is there any reason to buy this version rather than play the old one? What has been changed? I read a cherry picked list and some of the changes make it seems a little worse, presentation-wise.

Beat it earlier. Seems exactly the same as the previous version, except there's added enemy characters you can now play and level up.

Basically buying to get extra enemy chars. Not sure if they are as detailed and have an upgrade tree worthy of being new characters or not.

gaming industry needs to crash, I'm sick of all these low quality remasters and remakes.
