How to Save?

Game keeps telling me to save, but there's no save button in menu.
Doesn't show controls in menu options either.
If I quit to title it says you'll lose unsaved data.

Hi there,

There are save data points spread throughout the game in the form of bird feeders! When you approach a feeder a tool tip will appear explaining how to save. They also have the word 'save' across them to help you identify them. There are callouts to save after major boss fights, and the devs are currently looking into adding even more automatic save points!

Please add save options... I just played 1.5 hours, read a tool tipp to don't forget to save, but doesn't found any possiblility to save... Game crashed and I lost all progress.... Please put it into the tutorial to make it more clear how to save....

Pretty sure they mean to the menu options. Or at the very least make it explicitly clear very early in the game how saving works. Auto-saves are so standard now that if not explicitly told about a different save mechanism that's usually what people expect. The fact that threads like this are popping up and that you needed to write a guide is a sign that something is wrong. I completed the entire tutorial section and three different "zones" or whatever they are called in the main world all without having any idea how to save my game. I had to come to the forums, saw other people asking the same, to figure it out and then still had to hunt down a bird feeder to actually save.

There should be an autosave after completing a level or collecting an acorn. I cleared the lab 100% as well as the spicy house, never saw anything mentioning a save system.

There is an option for save to pop up at certain in game moments
in addition to the above lanterns. It's happened to me a couple times leading up to, including, and after the first boss fight.

So there are fixed save points but no real time save at anytime? For such game without difficult setting I think this is a major shop stopper.

The suburbs have birdfeeders hung at a few road intersections. You have to jump and hit the shoot button to engage them.

Yeah no. The game has good checkpointing within houses/yards/whatever, and beating/escaping them isn't hard. And the hard save points are easy to find and engage. Mad 'cause bad.

No the bird feeders don't work for me

Doesn't work for me when I press the fire button on the birdfeeders it brings me to the save menu but when I save and check if it actually saved there isn't any file with my save all are empty and have to create a new game every time i open it agian

What the devs said. There are bird feeders scattered around the overworld. Those are the manual saves. Within individual houses (let's call them zones) there's some checkpoint-style saving, but it basically only stays in memory while you're in your current gaming session. So if you need to hop off of the game in the middle of a zone, bail out and hit a bird feeder. Some things within the zone will almost definitely reset (for example, enemies respawning and platforms resetting), but the manual save will retain the golden acorns / reload clips / costume pieces that you unlocked.
