Is there a benefit to choosing the blue portal?
Because you can just die/quit at any time and still get the rewards. Do you get more for choosing the blue portal to quit?

The benefit is that the game doesn't get harder. Furthermore, if you're too slow with completing the level it becomes literally the only option.

"the game doesn't get harder" well it's a bit hard to get harder when the game is over. That's.. not a benefit. I'm not talking about the purple or the red portal, but the blue portal that ends the run.
"It can be the only option" not relevant. That doesn't make it an option.

Dying reduces the results of the last run afaik. I think by about 50% or so?

Damn, really? I was confidently dying to enemies or boredom, because i didn't know. The only difference i thought of was the match-history.

I'm not sure if it's meta for progression, but I've been going blue until I reach a point where I cant progress anymore. It seemed like a waste of time to keep going on the lower levels when your character would just get so OP that your unstoppable.

I think it's the move that makes sense? idk. I am bottlenecked by soulstones or whatever now though, which probably would be easier to grind by railing through lower difficulty runs.

huh that is interesting. Is this communicated in game anywhere? If not, they should probably put that information in game for clarification sake. It's interesting that this was never conveyed properly. I'll have to start taking the blue portal when it gets rocky I guess. Ty for this

I'm pretty sure all it does is record your highest level of curse progression. If you die it doesn't get recorded. It dont think it reduces your rewards at all but honestly i have never checked. You can see whats dropped on the left side of the screen so i guess just look that before you die and see if they go down.

I believe you "lose" materials , maybe halved by 50% of total OR all the materials you gathered in the last portal you get nothing but I believe it is more the 50% thingy

You can do more runs rather than making your runs longer. For an easier time, at the cost of rewards... but at the same time, you can more consistently target specific materials if you care about that. And I'm not sure it even costs rewards, someone would need to do the math.

bro nobody knows what they are talking about here they are just saying stuff to say it you lose absolutely 0 materials for dying including the ones you collected in the run you died in. All that happens when you portal out mid run is it tracks that run as a "win" and unlocks the next curse rank for the stage. If you die it marks the run as a "loss" but you still unlock the next curse stage as long as you completed the first stage of that level and you keep everything else. Ideally you leave the stage whenever you can until you get to max curse for the stage then you farm as deep as you can for materials by going infinite.

you don't lose materials even if you lose?
