I'm missing something... ascension is useless. You can't stand still long enough to activate them.
There is so much crap all over the ground that you can't activate them. Barb and Beastmaster have the only usable ones and occasionally the warden.

EDIT: The wardens mechanic is useless too. It's difficult to even find it much less follow it.

Just move through the big purple circles, and circle strafe around the edges of them if thing's aren't too bad. They last awhile and even briefly ducking in will generate power.

Paladin one is timing, and chasing kitties just sucks.

when you get enough curse intensity the aoe's are nearly the whole screen. It just doesn't seem feasible to stand in the areas.

Paladin one can be a little rough at times, but overall it's pretty easy to trigger. The two casters I have zero issues grabbing their ascension triggers. The hardest one for me is the ridable jaguar or w/e big cat it is. It's all about that schmovin` and timing. Although I've played enough that I've got about 600k enemies killed and only 2 weapons left to craft, so it's mostly muscle memory with some adapting at this point.

Arcane Weaver only needs to be not outright dashing on an exact spot where the mana crystal or whatever it was called is, while Paladin only needs to be in a general area at a fairly precise moment. They're annoying to use but aren't going to get you hit like Spellblade or Warden will.
IMO, all these perks should gain a tiny amount from kills and a large amount from a specific interactable. That way you can still use the abilities even if you can't interact with the main source.

You're not wrong. At max curse, those ascensions that rely on intricate timings are nigh impossible to activate because of the AOEs. Not much to go on when 90% of the map is painted red and you're playing dodge simulator.

Thats something that made me quit the game until some updates. I was hoping they would do something about it in their major patch but nope.

I agree, designing the ascension "buffs" to require you the one thing you can not really do in this game. The new update still seems to go the same path again. f.e. chaoswalker altar.

Honestly my faves to get irritated about are the huntress and necro, hunter is just a tiny buff thats a pain to get, to make things worse I've gone a whole map and not even seen a cat multiple times before (expecting the same from beastmaster) and necro can just stroll around for a second and suddenly have 30 extra massively overpowered summons he doesn't even need in the first place.
