Best abilities to banish
I usually play up to C7 Cycle 3-5 on most of my runs and I enjoy transforming my character into a killing machine with all those extra levels. What are the best passives to banish so I can get an awesome character?

I used to banish repeating skills like DoTs and fire shield. But after learning that rarity is rolled first on level up choices and then the game chooses from the available pool of passives, I'm rethinking my old strategy. The idea is remove the junk passives that dilute the pool so the good ones are more likely to show up.

Currently my choices are:
Leviathan (no brainer)
Area (once you get enough)
Agility (once you get enough around 150-200%)
Duration and Cast speed for buffs at 100% uptime
Multicast (Legendary multicast at 20% is so underwhelming. I'd rather get the ones that improve damage/area/multicast for all Physical/Magical skills)

Any more suggestions?

EDIT: After playing a run and banishing multicast, I changed my mind. I miss picking multicast at the common-rare rarities when a lot of options here are garbage. Its only when I see a legendary 20% multicast that I get disappointed.

Multicast (keep)
Magnet (banish after 200-400% pickup range)

I'm also keeping block/armor/health as they noticeably help keep you alive even at lower values. I'd rather pick these than another copy of a DoT skill at common.

Hi,

i alway banish
Leviathan (^Yes)
Resilient (dmg reduction imo currently not strong enough)
Indomitable (same as above)
Magnetic (it feels like there is some sort of cap for each cycle so those few levels doesnt cut it for me and dmg pickups are better imo)

NEVER area, you have enough when everything hits global, and this is probably very late

Agility can be a good pick
Multicast is interesting, its a good point that the values are very poor compared to the synergie upgrades, is definetly a very good choice when you go for theme builds

as the 5th one sometimes i banish Powerful Strikes, because i always aim for over 100% crit and Merciless gives 12%/24%/36% (crit)dmg increase compared to 5%/10%/15% from Powerful Strikes. Since EVERYTHING in this game can crit the higher numbers are more valuable.

Cheers!

leviathan
armor/block
fire shield
regular damage done

skill % and dmg% are the same thing, fire shield is largely useless, armor and block are only worth having for overlord 7+ runs which are very specific builds and even then you only bother with block chance till it's 50-60%

Indomitable (block power), Unbreakable (reduced dmg taken), Fire Shield, Powerful Strikes (damage mod.), and Leviathan (+dmg, -mov.speed). They're the easiest decision to make. I try not to banish Powerful Strikes and Leviathan too early on the off-chance that I get a 10% or 15% damage increase or if I get a lot of movement speed early, I might like a 30% dmg increase, but when you reach 100% crit chance, Merciless is just the better choice always -- that's when I banish them.

And armour does have its uses when you find a uncommon/rare armour drop so I don't actually mind getting some. I used to hate getting armour but honestly, it's not that bad to get. Even block power's not that bad, but I almost always skip them anyway.

yea looking from first loop up i pick
leviathan (fairly common pick could be something to think about devs)
fire shield (on high loops if something is this close you are probably already dead)
armour/deff (past like 40-50% armour and i don't even know how much block falloff is so big there's no point to them)
speed/magnet(if i have enough speed or at least few magnet upgrades since boss gems suck all the exp anyway so you need only as much as your between boss needs)

Weird that people banish Leviathan, since 2 Leviathans and an Agility is better value for skill points than just 3 damage buffs.

This might be true. But you need to look for 2 specific passives for this and Agility might compete with better offerings in the selection.

In a game that emphasizes mobility at high curse, picking Leviathan can cripple your run in my experience if you can't get Agility/movespeed to offset it. Better to banish and free up better choices to be offered during level ups.

I think Agility is kinda a "rare" drop i have had runs where i took an early leviathan and didnt get any speed for like 20-40 levels and it was horrible. And the times i actually did get agility there was always a better choice that would force me to pick something over it

For me
Leviathan - common and uncommon
Resilient - common
Indomitable - common
Fire Shield

Higher rarities of Resilient and Indomitable can sometimes be an ok pick depending on what else comes up and certainly later it helps to allow for slip ups when trying to dodge an entire screen of enemy attacks.
Fire shield would only help where the enemy is already on top of you, probably needs a tweak so that they spin over an increasing radius over time so they can be useful.
Leviathan - just can't afford to lose the ability to evade that this costs

Fire Shield is the ultimate garbage. Why does it even exist?
Ulyaoth Jun 10, 2023 @ 7:09am
Because the planetary constellation told so.
Can anyone confirm if you pick enough area Fireshield and Frostshield gets bigger?
Laomao Jun 10, 2023 @ 7:12am
Not sure about Fireshield, but for Frostshield the frost crystals do not get bigger but their explosion does.

Distance to player also stay the same?
Laomao Jun 10, 2023 @ 7:25am
I'm a little unsure as it has been some days since I used it, but I believe the distance stays the same. I mainly used it to get rid of Pillars fast. They make for quite good burst damage, at least in the early game/

That seems like a waste of skill points, considering that pillars start to get evaporated from just looking in their general direction about half way through run 1, if not faster.

Yup true, but a valuable banish for only 1 card with green rarity vs 1 set of cards with multiple raritys mostly common.

I used to banish Fire Shield but it feels like it is so rare its a waste to banish.
