Starting a custom game

So i just logged back on after 3 years and remebering how easy it was to setup a pve game i now see that it is gone... So i tried hosting a Custom game with my friends against 1 AI because for reasons unknown i have to unlock more ai to play against more than only 1. So we decided to do a 3v1 but i could not for the life of me figure out why i could not start it. It was set to the 3v3 and allowed even teams but i could not start it it just said "Waiting" and it only gave me 1v1 or 2v2 maps?? Anyone know a fix?

3v1 has a few issues from what I've heard.
In order to unlock more AI pilots, completing the Training missions is a good thing.
