This is the first gacha mmorpg as far as I know and the gacha part doesn’t affect gameplay; unless you want them early. If you want them early you can whale, but it won’t give you much in the long run, cuz f2p players will be able to get the same stuff for free… It’s not like Diablo Immortal where you can’t get 5* legendary gems, here you will get the weapons for free after they go into the standard banner where you can get them for free… And pvp, battle royale is equalized anyways, so u can be #1 without spending a penny
I am sure You're not new to gacha system, ain't You?
This is not a hardcore PvE MMORPG, if you are looking for that then look for another game.
This a PvP / Battle Royale / minigames / RP MMORPG.
There is no PvE lategame here whatsoever, unless you only play 1h a day.
Read my tldr of the game topic if you want to know more about this game...
You all are referencing PvE grindfest MMORPGs, but this wasn't made to be one even if you take out the gacha aspect...
YOU ARE LYING... the game has to have end game pve.
I am not. We didn’t recieve a new tier of gear in 8 months now. The whole endgame is doing your daily tasks + timegated weekly contents. Which take like 1 hour a day.
If they plan to release it properly to Steam, at least Hotta Studio have the decency to not put stupid things like the requirement of another platform (Like GTA V) to launch the game. Plus a possible Steam Workshop (I know asking for that in gacha games is like shooting the sun with a squirt gun).
But for me I understand a lot your complaints about this gacha system coming in PC platforms like Steam. After all... if there is a reason why the PC community has survived so many attempts at anti-consumer policies (Bethesda Creation Club for example). It's because the users of this platform have much higher standards than those of consoles and mobile combined.
And I'm saying that as a PC-only gamer who got their first and only console at the ripe age of 21.
PC and console gamers don't have higher standards as general consumer base, they just have different systems that companies use to milk us out of money (Season Passes, f*ckloads of DLCs, half-assed remasters and re-releases, micro (and macro) transactions in games, etc.
f2p is a type of game that tops most sales charts (and let's be honest, sales charts are what comapnies use to decide on what to do, not user reviews). The only thing different in those is that they use microtransactions instead of gacha which in many cases is outright more predatory since they try to hide the fact that paying gives you advantage (unlike gachas)
We did not even survive these attempts at anti-consumer practices, as you claim.
If we did, Fortnite or Apex would not be one of the most profitable games on PC, and we wouldn't have Epic Games Store trying to use exclusivity deals as a form of competition, as consoles do and what we as PC gamers thought we would never see.
We may be only recently waking up to the reality of the situation and starting to excercise our power as consumers. Let's hope it keeps up.
Now, I don't disagree with you, I actually wish what you are saying was the case. But reality is much less stellar than you depict it to be.
Which is half-truth, because the true last bastion of gaming are indie games, and those release on all systems and are what we should strive to support and prompt up.
Companies and their greed are everywhere after all.
Don't worry. You actually have a good point. It's ok
You just simply don't want to get it.
In your tiny brain you think that everyone who can't afford 30$ a month to pay for a sub (you suggested a 20$ dlc price, so would be 30-40$ a month by that logic) are losers who shouldn't play games anymore. You think that the majority of the playerbase is able to pay 30$ a month just for some pixels and that the others are not allowed to play mmos anymore.
You are really really wrong.
F2P games are popular, because they are free to play and people don't have 30$ to spare monthly on a game.
You think you are the saviour of the gamers, but in reality you want 80+% of the players suffer from boredom as they wouldn't be able to play any game.
I will say it for the last time:
Once they add a weapon into the standard banner, you can buy it from the token shop without spending any premium currency or spending a single penny on the game.
Also, by spending 'hundreds to thousands' you destroy the whole point of the game, you are not even playing the game at that point. You just log in to whale and log out. And by your logic... A year would cost 360+$, so who is suggesting a worse idea? :) You saying 360+$ a year is fine and f2p can f themselves; or this system where you can get everything for free after a while or if you want, you can willingly chose to whale so f2ps can enjoy the game while you get an early access to a character...
Pay to play games won't disappear, WoW and FF14 are doing really well. FF14 will get a whole graphical overhaul soon, and I bet the next FF mmorpg will come soon enough as well (unless they plan to just expand FF14 forever)
I don't like that ToF is not a PvE grinding game either, but that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy everything the game has to offer (and be #1 in PvP) as f2p. You won't lose out on anything, if you like the collab characters then you can just pull on them to get them. There's a pity that guarantees them, so you can't get that unlucky either. On CN they put the collabs pretty early, but already had a rerun, so everyone was able to get them by now (if they even wanted them)
The system you keep mentioning here is 100% paywall. That's the worse system compared to gacha in general. In gacha, everyone can get equally ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by the RNG. In your system, only the rich kids can afford everything. That's so Korean MMORPG. lol
If you have $30 to spend on e-cigs etc every single week or 2 then you can cut that out and get characters you want instead. Also WoW and FF14 are subscription games, I hate those too, one time payment is what I'm talking about.
