B. Gacha-style MTX that probly costs just as much
These are both the same thing. Here's an idea: A Development Patreon linked in-game, game costs a 1-time upfront cost.
Nah man, I can't r34 Genshin. The characters are too wholesome
I'd like to know the science behind why people enjoy gachas instead of normal video games where you can get a similar level of satisfaction without having to spend precious resources (gems in the case of Genshin) to get something you want. And that's assuming you get what you want with those resources you spent time saving up.
Yeah, I can definitely see that. From my perspective, since I play a ton of games, it's hard for me to ignore things I don't like. But, I can definitely see why casual gamers would be able to enjoy it.
Genshin has a ton of potential to be a great game. I'm not the kinda person that wants the game dead, I just want mihoyo to make improvements to a very flawed game so both hardcore gamers and casuals can enjoy it. If they do, I'd be willing to pick it up again.
