Disapointing character customization

I started the game and enjoyed the gameplay. yes i think gameplay is very important to mmo's but i also like character customization, and being force to be some anorexic male is sadly not my thing. Yes i understand not having so big brute because of animations. But being able to make our character look like marc body type wise would be awesome.

While I completely agree with your opinion, I think this one is done the way it is because even a little main character customization completely blows some of the competition out of the water. ToF's main competitors in terms of games that look alike, Genshin, and now WuWa, have zero character customization. None, zit. Not even an accessory can be changed from them. in contrast, ToF not only allows you to edit your personal character (albeit with less body sliders than other similar games like Blade and Soul or Phantasy Star New Genesis), it also allows you to pick from any character you have unlocked and use them instead.

So I suggest you unlock King for a larger more muscular and cool looking guy. His weapon isn't so bad either. There are other dudes in the permanent gacha pool, but King may be the more buff and tall of them all. Ming Jing comes from limited pools so pick him when his banner comes back, as he has a decent weapon as well.

While Tower has one of the better selections in terms of Male options. It's not great. The males could use more love in general.

I would love to see other body types in general for both male and female

Actually there is a game called Phantasy Star Online 2 with really good character customization so not having competition is definitely not why ToF's is so limited. I just think it wasn't the main focus like it is with that game.

PSO2 and NGS are more or less a low population title on this side of the world. Yes, it has some super robust customization the likes of which are seldom seen in his genre. But at least I, in my honest opinion, don't think something like NGS makes for some fierce competition here. In Japan though, NGS is very popular.

On the other hand, I agree with you about customization not really being a hugely important thing at the top of ToF dev priorities. After all, design time and money goes also to the gacha characters that people have to pull. Still, ToF has a somewhat unique way to deal with how players use the characters, and it's something I actually like.

Does suck for people like me who have no interest in using the gacha characters apart from their weapons.

Maybe I've grown used to seeing face editors being called character creators in older MMOs, but while I'd love to see more character customization games out there with full sliders and all that, maybe I've lost some hope, which makes me celebrate when a game comes and allows me to edit the height of my character...

Sometimes I think we are actually regressing here. Look at the new Zenless game. There's not even a player character in there. Just premade people you sometimes control in small instances, and the only customization you can identify as yours is the account name (can't even name the protagonist you pick), which in the game's lore is not even yours, but the property of those premade people. Yet that game got 50M downloads in mere days and is apparently well loved. I hope this does not mean devs will feel they can stop making character creators in new games of this kind because apparently plenty of players won't care about them.

And it seems copium is what's to be served for the time being because...
